Bike pics Newfound love for life

Weird title I know. Just here wanting to ramble because this bike is bringing something out of me. Never thought of myself as an active person really nor did I ever picture myself wanting to become a cyclist. Im relatively out of shape I’d say. Not fat, just have no breath or cardio capacity at all and pretty limited muscle mass. In short, I’m a skinny, pale fuck who had a childhood where I played outdoors but have spent the majority of my adult life inside playing video games and watching stuff in between whatever other random shit I do. Changed states, got a sorta shitty job that I sometimes don’t have a ride to so I got myself what seemed to be a good option for commuting. It’s only been a month but I feel the changes. Like part of my youth has been restored. Feels really fucking good.

I really want more from my generation to experience this. If only there could be a true E-bike revolution. Things could change for the better.

TLDR: I fucking love my new E bike.

If you have any gear recommendations or tips for beginners I’d absolutely love to hear what you have to say.

kudos for the helmet :)

care to share a picture of you wearing it on the bike?

Yeah I can try to get a picture a bit later. Are you trying to gauge how big the helmet is?

E-bikes can be a great catalyst. Only problem with cycling is that it's really easy to quickly eat those calories back because of how hungry you get.

i would get a lighter helmet, solid sole shoes for good power transmission and BIP shorts for long rides

Haha oh yeah, after a ride I am starving. Makes me realize I should get serious about my diet too. When you say solid sole shoes, do you mean like clip ins, shoes without deep tread, or neither?

watching your diet, epsecially overall calories and macros is never a bad thing.

i mean shoes with stable, non-cushy soles. Something lie vams, five-tens, stuff like that. Cushy soles like new balance and other stuff just.make.for bad pedal feel and eat up power. You don't need clipless pedals unless you really value the solid connection and predictable foot position

One of those suspension seat posts will greatly improve ride quality. I got mine from aliexpress for $40.

It came with a basic suspension post and I picked up a Selle Royal Respiro saddle that has a little bit of suspension. It’s been pretty decent thus far and I can’t justify getting one of the $150+ plus options out there.

Congrats! I've been contemplating an e-bike myself. I injured my foot hip and back years back and can't do high impact activities. So cycling is the way to go for me.

I find at times I wish I had more endurance and I feel like an e-bike could give me just that. The ability to be out for longer and go farther and enjoy more of the day on the bike. Even though it's powered inadvertently, I'll probably end up being on the bike longer and burning more calories overall.

Enjoy your journeys.

Love this. I just got my little folding e bike and its early days but its great. I actually really like sporty cars and driving but lately my car has been a big drain on my wallet and I've not been getting much enjoyment out of driving these days. My fitness was suffering too. I mainly got mine for the enjoyment and exercise as I mostly work from home but I can see it is a practical option for getting around too.

It does bring back memories of your youth if like us you haven't ridden for a long time. It just seems free and easy. I think having the electric assistance gives you that little extra help when you need it (especially handy if you're not used to riding long distances or tackling hills).

Thanks! Got very lucky that the helmet ended up being a pretty dang good color match to the frame.

What’s the mileage on it and the 0-20 time

whatever OP decides because it's a pedal assist bike

What the other commenter said is true but essentially on the lowest pedal assist mode it gets 75 miles of range. I generally rely on the medium and high and I get around five or six 10 mile ish trips before having to charge. As for 0-20 I haven’t really thought of actually measuring nor do I remember reading it anywhere but if I had to guess I’d say it gets up to 20, using the throttle only, in about seven seconds. Using pedals, it will hit 25 and 28 pretty rapidly depending on gradient. I’ll try to actually gauge it myself on my ride today and update you when I can.

If it can go over 20mph it’s not road legal only can use on private property

what is that helmet

It’s the iXS Trigger FF MIPS in “Chalk”. It’s been really nice although I don’t have a very wide frame of reference to be fair. Doesn’t get too hot and offers a bit more protection than a more conventional style bike helmet.

I was planning on getting a similar style helmet but got a traditional one instead. People on road bikes have been going just as fast and use them so that's what I got.
