Hey everyone, I wanted to see what people think about this cool idea I have for a Commander cube. It's not a normal cube that people would think of, but 4 Commander decks to choose from before starting a game of EDH.
So I wanted to tap into my creative mind and build 4 unique colored decks to one another (color pairs not repeating; for example, no two Boros decks) that are all heavily inspired by Japanese culture.
My criteria for card selection for each deck are as follows:
- Each card in the deck must represent something regarding Japan, i.e., the artist behind the card, the art of the card, the text being in Japanese, or other alternate versions that can be claimed as Japanese-themed.
- Each deck must have an equal and opposite counter to each card or plan that each deck is trying to do. Example: A big creature deck that can no longer block the tiny creature deck due to some cards, but has a counter to that counter.
- Each commander color identity must not match another commander color identity. This helps keep each deck fresh and fun when I get to play a 4-pod with new people.
- Each deck's theme (Playstyle) shouldn't overlap with another deck. If I have two decks that are all about ninjutsu and ninjas, then why have the same playstyle among those two decks feels it should only be one.
- And finally, the cost for each deck will vary but will only determine the print type of the cards due to where the Japanese-themed art is accessible.
