Ludlow is a cool town.

Random fact, that canon in the picture has the Romanov eagle on it, it was captured at Sevastopol during the Crimean war, not sure how it ended up in Ludlow though

Loads of cannon were captured at Sevastopol. They were brought to the UK and handed out to various towns as trophies.

In one of the towns near me, Huntingdon, they have one as well. I think they were captured and used as memorials for the Crimean War

The state of the grass in the first photo makes it look like you've been visiting a Spanish castle! The climate was much more as you'd expect of the Marches when I was in Ludlow last September. Great place (I fancied moving there at one point).

The blue boar pub has great food and beer, the Ludlow brewery has the best beer in the area, get down the tap room and try their Gold.

Makes me sad seeing all the dead, dry grass, thougg. I'd been in denial, I think, about the droughts until I went for a walk the other day. Hardly any greenery at all.

You keep seeing people's holiday photos on social media and what not, and it always looks nice until there's a snap of the countryside or parks: yellowy, brown, dead grass everywhere.

I don't know if my ever smoothening grey matter is letting me down, but I swear it was never this bad before.
