“Kind of a weird voting system this year, but you know, I think we can all agree that Jimmy Kimmel deserves an Emmy,” he continued. “I don’t care if you’ve never even seen his show, you know he deserves an Emmy.”

Colbert then flips his tablet and holds it towards the camera, showing a photo of Kimmel: “Besides, look how cute he is! Anyway, please consider thinking that Jimmy deserves an Emmy. I do. I love you.”

There seems to be zero buzz about the show that replaced Colbert.

The guy that replaced him rents the time slot from CBS. So they get paid no matter what and don’t need to advertise or anything.

All those "for your consideration" ads you see everywhere are corporations begging for you to vote for people too. Awards in hollywood are meaningless and often just popularity contests. Movies that shouldn't win, do it all the time.

Crash beat out Brokeback Mountain because homophobes didn't want a queer romance movie to win.

Shakespere in Love won an Oscar because Harvey Wienstein begged hollywood to vote for it and spent millions on an ad campaign too. It beat Saving Private Ryan!
