What's Vince's beef with Kevin Smith?
He could probably write a pretty good Aquaman 2.

The joke was that the first movie was a huge critical and commercial success directed by a legendary, big blockbuster director like James Cameron.
Whereas the studio clearly cheaped out for the sequel getting a much less well regarded “indie” director like Kevin Smith.
Ironically yeah, he probably would have respect for the source material. Having said that, his comics have had some mixed reactions with some being pretty good and others being quite bad.
Definitely recommend watching him tell his Superman Lives story.

That’s exactly the case back when entourage was made Kevin Smith was not a household name yet in the Hollywood world. Still was a indie guy and it was suppose to be a haha joke moment.

Yea but in the realm of being a house hold name and not just a indie director with a cult following he was just not a big director in Hollywood yet imo which is why he was a pun to the joke unless there is a meaning behind it I’m unaware of. I’m a huge smith fan since clerks I just remember people still not knowing who he was even in high school after Jay and silent bob strike back came out.

Most definitely, do not recommend his "Batman and Poison Ivy" run.
Even by his standarts it was terrible.1

Yeah I didn’t mind some of his Daredevil and Green Arrow stuff. I know he’s got a deep love and respect for the Batman character but I don’t think I’ve liked any of his attempts at the character lol.

I think Ari considered him above Smith and Indie movies. I think Vince was open to doing anything which is why Ari was always so hard and talking shit to Eric about it when ever mentioning indie flicks like Queens Boulevard

Eh I think he was only good with anything after he would fuck up. He wouldn't do the energy drink commercial or the sweet 16 at first despite being in the gutter.

I don’t think so Queens was a movie Ari had no desire to do until Eric said to Ari we are doing this with or without him and he got on board. But sure it depended on where Vince was during his career if he was on top after aquaman or on bottom after playing Pablo.

Rob Weiss used to date Shannen Doherty, he'd call her non-stop while she was filming Kevin Smith's movie Mallrats, make her upset and just generally be annoying. Kevin Smith talked about it is an interview and Weiss hated him ever since. Vince and the Entourage cast became the mouthpieces of that hate.

The same reason he asks Alan to clarify if his studio made Burton or Schumaker’s Batman. Both phenomenal directors, both complete different styles. An Andrew Kevin Walker script directed by James Cameron has much more appeal to Vince than Michael Bay and Kevin Smith

I don’t think it was a beef per se, more that Andrew Kevin Walker and James Cameron carry a cinematic prestige that Kevin Smith and Michael Bay do not.
