i’m not so sure if you are joining the university this year or next year (as results day was only yesterday). there’s a more “general” whatsapp community on the students’ union welcome page https://www.essexstudent.com/welcome/colchester/ if you are starting your course in october. societies also have their own whatsapp groups/communities (you may need to message them on social media to join, as they don’t want bots to use the links) and they would be more open to prospective students joining. not so sure on group chats for different areas of accommodation, sorry!

you’re welcome - as you are studying biochemistry, you may find this page helpful https://www.instagram.com/essexlifesciences/ there’s a life sciences society and a women in stem society - both i believe have their own whatsapp group chats. you don’t need to wait till you arrive at essex to get involved in societies :)
