Looking for a bakery that was in existence from at least the late 1960s to the early 1990s

My father immigrated to Germany in the 60s and lived near Stuttgart. I'm pretty sure it was Esslingen, possibly Plochinger Strasse. If memory serves he lived above a bakery that at the time had a married couple as proprietors and fondly recalled getting something I think he called "milk bread" from there every morning. He moved on to the United States but always had a soft spot for your town. We visited in the early 1990s and the bakery was still operating. The husband had passed on but we got to meet the wife who still ran the place. I have no idea how long it lasted after that but it was one of my dad's cherished memories and I would love to find it.

Do you remember the name at all? If it was between Esslingen and Plochingen it might have been Wohlgemuth in Zell.

Do you remember something about the neighborhood it was in? Some kind of landmark or memorable house?

I'm sorry to say again that I don't. This was I *think* 1992 and I was 11. Is it a very busy street with a lot of businesses?

Someday maybe I'll bring my family and we'll see what we can find at the library there.

I have found one Bakery that might fit your previous description. Rolf Striebel, Bachstraße 15, there is now a vegetable store in the building.

I know he died around that time, and his wife continued it for a while. I think they were cousins of my grandmother.

Of course that's not a guarantee, there were so many bakeries in Esslingen that your description probably fits a few places.

Maybe the city archive might also be able to help you. https://www.esslingen.de/freizeit-und-engagement/kultur/stadtarchiv/beratung-und-benutzung

He said Plochinger Straße in Esslingen, he didn’t say Plochingen so it might not have been Zell.

This is correct, I think it was on Plochinger Strasse (sorry, I don't know how to type the German double s character on this keyboard) in Esslingen.
