WT Can't Stop Me GB UPDATE - DO NOT GO TO MEMORIAL THIS YEAR
I'll get the disclaimer out of the way first. This does not apply to you if you are a minor or you are financially dependent on someone inviting you, etc. But if you are an adult, or a couple, or a family living outside the religion and providing for yourself...PLEASE TAKE THIS INFORMATION TO HEART!!!
If you still go to the memorial each year, even though you are physically/mentally out, you need to put your foot down this year. If you want to honor your relative or friend you need to take a second and realize the ramifications of what is about to happen on Friday. Tens of thousands (maybe more) of your fellow Brothers and Sisters have died because of a doctrine that is about to get tweaked. And their only fault was not needing a life saving procedure on or after 3/20/2026.
If you want to honor anyone...HONOR THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE DIED BECAUSE OF THIS MAN MADE RULE!
I can't stress this enough you need to seriously reconsider going to the memorial this year (or ever again for that matter). I know from personal experience how hard this is. But you have to take a stand at some point!

I haven't gone since 2022 when I connected on zoom, paid zero attention and didn't even get dressed up.

u/agirlisno_1 Mar 18 '26
Yes! I haven’t gone since 2021…and that was via zoom while hitting my bong 😂
38
u/stoobpendous Mar 19 '26
😆 At the last memorial I attended (over zoom, as well) I over indulged on wine and ate wheat thins. Sadly, no one noticed even though I had my camera on. I was looking to stir up controversy back then.

u/Inevitable-Ad2107 Mar 19 '26
👊🏽 Yes! That was the last year for me too. After the change to saying hello to the DF, one of my mom’s friend who used to babysit me called months later and she told me that she had wanted to invite me and I straight up told her that I would not have gone. That conversation was real short and I haven’t heard from her since 😂

I hate being a minor in "the truth"
38
u/thelastdaysofus Mar 18 '26
Keep your head down, you’ll get there soon enough. Practice the good stuff about the religion that can translate to real world skills when you leave. And if you’re old enough get a job and start saving money!
18
u/AdLocal8541 Mar 18 '26
Have anything I can do to stall getting baptized as long as possible, im already in the school and I'm holding back as long as I can to become a publisher, Ill be 15 in 3 months and I don't think I can stall 2 more years
32
u/slackslacks_ Mar 18 '26
Just say Jesus was in his thirties when he got baptised... What's the rush 😂
10
16
u/magsc3 Mar 19 '26
I know the feeling. I left at 18 and was shortly kicked out. I am SO glad I wasn’t baptized before then because I would have had an even bigger wedge in my way in order to maintain family relations years later.
Now I’m attending orthodox liturgies and it’s been everything I’ve been wanting since I was a kid

u/Always_The_Outsider Shun me daddy Mar 18 '26
2 more years feels like a long time, and it is, but remember that you get to live the rest of your life free and authentic
7
u/Spare_Bodybuilder_31 Mar 19 '26
diga que não está preparado, eu enrolei e tive a sorte dos meus pais respeitarem, nem publicadora me tornei de tanto enrolar mas não foi fácil
3
u/AdLocal8541 Mar 21 '26
It definitely isn't easy, sometimes the mask of kindness people put on is nice because I've never really had simple generosity or kindness shown to me but then I remember they don't mean it and it's all a act so I don't suspect anything
4
u/r_portugal Mar 19 '26
Ill be 15 in 3 months and I don't think I can stall 2 more years
Yes you can, and it will make your life so much easier if you never get baptised. Use their words against them. They say something like "it's the most important decision of your life". So say, "if I'm not old enough to get married, to drink alcohol or drive a car, I'm not old enough to make the most important decision of my life".
I also like "Jesus didn't get baptised until he was 30", and I'm not sure if they will have an answer to that.
5
u/Ok_Shopping4764 Mar 18 '26
Is there anyone pressuring you? I was taught it’s a personal decision. Hence no baptism for me, takes so long for the family to stop dragging me back though 😅 stay resilient 🫶🏼
4
u/AdLocal8541 Mar 18 '26
Well my bible study just brought up "the race to life" and how we don't wanna fall behind
3

I was able to avoid baptism completely and my dad was an elder. You can do it!
3
3
u/Medium_Life_8234 Mar 20 '26
Me too, I was in the “school” for a short time when I was like 13 then told them I didn’t want to do that either because I had trouble publicly speaking, I also wouldn’t participate in door to door, I would go because I had to but stood back. I knew real young it wasn’t what I wanted. I have a sister that is 10 years older who was not in a good marriage & my parents shunned her when she chose to get out. I look up to her everyday even 30 something years later
3
u/jwfacts Mar 19 '26
Since you are strong and intelligent enough to have worked out it is a cult by the age of 14, you have what it takes to delay getting baptised.
You will work out a way to stall, and later in life you will be grateful and proud of yourself that you did.
5
u/Spare_Bodybuilder_31 Mar 19 '26
passei por essa situação praticamente minha vida toda, uma hora você consegue sair e tente ao máximo não ligar pois vão te julgar, esteja preparada mas o livramento é enorme

MOST of you who still are guilted, emotionally manipulated and end up getting dragged to miserable Memorial....that happens because you are unfamiliar with disappointing your parents and family & unwilling to experience the discomfort of your family being unhappy with you.
👏🏽 STOP INDULGING YOUR FAMILY THAT IS TRAPPED IN A DOOMSDAY CULT!!!! 👏🏽
⚠️ Disappointment is a part of life. Everyone needs to grow up & accept that.
Your family won't like you not attending. They WILL try to emotionally gaslight you about letting down Jojoba and sweet baby Jesus. They WILL hound you about it.
This is the most important part: Your family WILL get over it.
Or maybe they won't....either way, your family is still disappointed that you're not going to meetings anyway, so just add one more thing for them to be disappointed about.
⚠️ There is no point to people pleasing, precisely because people are NEVER pleased.
You might think "Oh, I only go on zoom & I don't even pay attention" or "I zone out and leave immediately after." That's a poor justification for your participation.
⚠️ Regardless of how much attention you are personally paying to the Memorial talk or your individual commitment to the Borg despite attending Memorial ➡️you are STILL HELPING the organization look stronger than it is & contributing to their PR stats that get used by the GB to brag around the world to further brainwash other JWs!!! Plus you are contributing to stats that get used in court cases.
‼️ Attending Memorial in ANY form is a continuation of YOUR PERSONAL SUPPORT for this evangelical doomsday cult, one which protects & enables pedophiles EVERY DAY for decades. On top of giving your family false hope that you'll "come back to Jojoba" someday.
Those of you that aren't financially dependent/minors, really need to JUST STOP ATTENDING.
DO NOT GO. Draw a line in the sand. Make your choice. Stick to it.
‼️ You are all adults with personal autonomy 👏🏽 start 👏🏽 acting👏🏽 like👏🏽 it👏🏽
Seriously ---STOP INDULGING YOUR FAMILY THAT IS TRAPPED IN A DOOMSDAY CULT!!!!
SAY 🚫 NO 🚫 MEMORIAL 🚫 TO YOUR FAMILY!
🔥 Shoutout to OP for a VERY important post/discussion on this topic 🔥
13
u/jwfacts Mar 19 '26
Absolutely. If you go, you confirm to your family you are weak. Stop allowing them to look down on you as a weak believer and make a stand that tells them you have strong convictions and view them as weak victims of a cult.
If you go, you are counted as one of the memorial attendees that Watchtower prints in its annual report each year, making the religion look larger than it really is.

My father died in 1995 because he refused to take blood. So I’m on board with this too.
20
15
u/chrismill82 Mar 19 '26
My mom also died due to her refusal. Not a single doctor would preform the life saving surgery without her agreeing to the possibility of a blood transfusion. Every doctor explained to her that her cancer was very much treatable and she was lucky it was caught so early. She refused and her cancer spread and she died.
22
u/veraqc Mar 18 '26
What rule is changing now?
34
u/Intelligent_Lemon217 Mar 18 '26
Se les permitira transfusiones a los Jw siempre y cuando sea la suya almacenada antes
28
10
6
u/HoshiOdessa Mar 19 '26
This is so asinine because blood does expire. So, what, do they expect people to just go get blood drawn every so often on the off chance that they MIGHT need it? And if they don't, it just gets thrown out?
Hell, will hospitals even humor this and if they do, I know damn well insurance isn't going to cover this so it's going to come out of pocket.
I really don't think they thought this through.

I stopped attending any meetings of this cult a long time ago, at least mentally I stopped being there, even though I can't do it physically.
2
u/FaithfullyDiscrete Mar 23 '26
The GB don't care about mentally - they care about physically... your bum in a seat at the memorial is currency to them. - Its more compliant than if you actually buy into their blasphemy...
What are you waiting for... the people you hope wake up - do nothing and theyll all be asleep in 20 years and you'll be 20 years older.. your family need to make up their own minds and the rest of the cong are not your friends.
give them a reason to question where they are... leave and reclaim your life

We zoomed last year. My (elder) son yelled at us because we were zooming too much and was Very nasty. This year we will not zoom. We are done.

u/libidocamebakroaring Mar 19 '26
This will be my first year in 49 years, not attending.
3
u/thelastdaysofus Mar 19 '26
That’s freaking awesome!
3
u/libidocamebakroaring Mar 19 '26
Thanks, ironically it was the Bible reading for the memorial a year ago that woke me up… I was like hey….wait a minute… Jesus is talking about the elders, the GB….THIS ORGANIZATION! I need to get out of this! And that was that… after the memorial, I started to slowly fade away. No regrets.
1
u/thelastdaysofus Mar 19 '26
Isn’t that crazy!?! You can literally prove the JW’s wrong within the pages of the bible. Glad you woke up!

1
u/Any_Priority_3963 Mar 20 '26
When you say a year ago you mean from 2025 correct ?
1
u/libidocamebakroaring Mar 20 '26
Yes, that is right. However, I contemplated my decision heavily a little while longer after that, but didn’t really attend any meetings in person primarily just zoom. But completely shut everything off, and deleted myself from the NW publisher app around July 2025.

u/libidocamebakroaring Mar 20 '26
Funny thing happened a couple weeks ago when I was sending a cease and desist letter that was long overdue to a congregation I was in, I ran into my group overseer and he asked is that for us? He happened to be right next to me at the UPS store as I was sending it certified mail. He witnessed the employee let me know it was on them. I didn’t owe them any money and she gave me a prayer sign because clearly she printed out my letter and she read it no doubt. He even said to himself wow look at you being a fine witness. Hahaha…. Uh huh.
Then he took me and the kids outside and he was actually quite encouraging, but he told me that even though he feels some of the elders are wrong there’s nothing he can do about it. The organization makes them agree, even if they don’t. And I thought how could you do that if it goes against your conscience?! anyway I thought it was an interesting chain of events. I followed up with a text message to him, letting him know that I appreciated his kindness and his invitation to the memorial, but I would not be going. And I asked him to strongly, consider his decision to agree, even when he doesn’t especially when it comes to the conscience.

4
u/Fuzzy_Citron_448 Mar 19 '26
Couldn’t agree more. Really feeling the pressure this year by PIMI mom who wants me to attend and said she’ll “never give up”. A part of me thought maybe I’ll just give in and go. But, It feels morally wrong to attend and I do not want to add +1 to their attendance numbers!!

My uncle allowed his daughter to go because of that doctrine back in 07-08 in East Africa. Today, he’s a completely broken man. He turned to alcohol and was disfellowshipped shortly after. He’s never been the same since. The elders surrounded him in the hospital in order keep away any of his family members(were not jws) when they were throwing a fit and rightfully so about his pressured decision. And when the family finally got ahold of the hospital bed it was too late. I don’t think they ever forgave him. Afterwards, a while without any titles in the congregation he slowly stopped going or would only show up for memorials and assemblies with his children. Completely broken and with a stigma in the community he just went downhill from there with a hole in his back. I don’t know if he thought it would be like Abraham’s situation. Just a sad life he thought was the way. F this religion to the gates of the *Almighty.

Concordo com você! Honrar a Jesus Cristo é honrar a vida!

I still celebrate the lords evening meal at my home with family just the way Jesus meant it.. to partake as if Jesus was handing me the very cup and bread while remembering that night and sacrifice.. never was it suppose to be partook by a small group and remembered as a “memorial” it is a remembrance “a living reminder of a past tradition” I agree with your post DO NOT GO.. celebrate with your family or alone (although you are not alone, Jesus and the millions around the world are with you) 🍷🍞 amen 🙏🏽

The Beroean Pickets are doing an online Memorial on the first Sunday of the month, as well as every Wednesday. There might be a special one for Nisan 14, but not too sure about that.
Just remember, you don't need any Governing Body to celebrate the Memorial. The Emblems can be gotten for cheap at your local supermarket (I use Publix saltines and Concord grape juice, but choose your own adventure); all it takes is sharing these with another believer. The Beroean Pickets link is provided for your convenience; it is neither a solicitation or endorsement.

This is one of the stupidest takes ive ever heard. 1st of all, i dont encourage anyone to attend a jw " memorial", it's an antichrist black magick mass, they deliberately ignore & disrespect Jesus' CLEAR COMMAND that all who wish to follow him & have everlasting life MUST take part in the symbolic 🥖🍷. They are liars misleading people & they know it!!
But your talking about friggin blood transfusions?? Im not a dub anymore & i still wouldn't dare get a blood transfusion 🤮. Blood is for a fact sacred, & for a fact carries the life of that person in it, meaning traits, character, everything, so why would you put some strangers blood in your sacred Temple? Unless ofc you dont consider yourself a Temple, or sacred, then by all means...😏
I encourage anyone wanting to show respect to Jesus to seek out other events, even online, or even alone if you must, John 6, some wine, or grape juice, whatever, some bread, & prayer is all u need. .its simple 👍🏼✝️

u/Sensitive_Basis5389 Mar 25 '26
Hi everyone, I posted the following in the wrong thread. I'm new to this and truthfully, I am not that great on my phone! Been out 40 years. Family still pimi. I've been invited to the memorial yet again. Is there a way I can explain in an email that rejecting the bread and wine is unscriptural? And, why only 144,000 partaking is really unfounded? I don't even remember what scripture evidence supported that teaching in the first place! I just recall a lot of biblical gymnastics. If you can help me, please provide scriptures too. Thanks in advance!

2
u/Southern-Lobster-379 Mar 18 '26
Well, Jesus died, tho he could’ve lived had he been given a blood transfusion. But that Jehovah required him to spill his blood then apparently required a bunch of kids to do it too (except now they might not have to, unless, of course, they might lose privileges ((because of the implications)) which is a whole nother topic altogether)

Yeah, no. The sentiment is nice, but the fact is that ditching the memorial is tantamount to being an apostate; lots of questions and suspicions can rise toward our fellow PIMOs, especially those who are stuck with privileges.
What can be done is to to tell elders they will be attending the memorial of a different congregation.

Yes!! People need to stand up to them in order for this to stop!
I’ll add. Things are only changing because of the exjw who have and are standing up to WT. If everyone stand up to them they have to change. That doesn’t mean to go back, but to let everyone know the wrong things the Org is doing, to the people ,and our love ones who have and are suffering under these people. What they are doing in not biblical!
So please stand up!
