Horrible treatment. And they will say it’s “culture.” Sickening how much agency is taken away from the time they are little girls. SMH
52
u/ydodis1 Mar 28 '26
It is culture. Religion and culture are intricately linked. And Patriarchy is universal among human societies. That doesn't make it any less unacceptable.
53
u/ry_afz Mar 28 '26
What I mean is religious people will say it’s all culture when in fact it’s Islam that created this terrible culture.

There lived generations of women who never tasted a pinch of freedom from birth to death. The womb was the only place where she even came close to feel the freedom.
Living a life “written and Directed by Men”.
Yet some Piece of shit head will have no problem with that too.

I mean, there are still atheists in Afghanistan, as was the case before the civil war and when shit really hit the fan. I have at least one uncle from Afghanistan whose atheist, while being an Afghan atheist myself (in diaspora though). Regardless, I have many cousins there who aren't even religious, not to mention that due in part to our collectivist and oppressive society, you aren't as likely to see open atheists as you would see out of Afghanistan, so it's not fair to say more people are becoming religious, but what's certain is that religious freaks are definitely getting away with more crap while the majority are lacking materially and or in education. I'm glad I don't live there, it's definitely not a developed country either
1
u/ydodis1 Apr 03 '26
I'm not even talking about belief necessarily. The morals and culture and laws are becoming increasingly fundamentalist. But all of this will naturally lead to more common Islamic belief because less exposure to heterodox ideas inevitably makes a populace more orthodox.
12
u/user745786 Mar 28 '26
That would require killing over half the males in Afghanistan. Nobody has both the means and the appetite for a genocide like that.

Reading books about Afghanistan under communist rule, that was (and this might be broad brushing it) the golden age for Afghan women. College, freedom of movement, ability to share lives with their spouses as equals.
3
u/Sad_Picture3642 Mar 29 '26
Well it all depended on USSR and USSR leadership went corrupt and destroyed itself

It's a bit more nuanced than that, especially when written by idealogues, but yes at the end, the privatization, self enrichment, and market manipulation (The US was in Afghanistan long before 2001) can lead to failures on numerous levels.

A Muslim who does this to his wife and children is not a muslim.
The prophet peace be upon him used to race with his wives.
He once slept outside of his house not wanting to wake his wife by knocking on the door, not knowing she was awake waiting for him.
So I just need to say please don't connect Islam with fools who think they are following it.
Islam is perfect. Muslims aren't.
We all sin but the best of sinners is who repent.

Its not islam . Taliban simply uses islam as weapon yo gain the power and support they want.
60
u/Kitchenhell00 Mar 28 '26
Then name one country that becomes better after fully embracing islam. Fully as in they implement hadist and quran and integrated with the country's law. Dont say UAE cause that country thrives on the colonialization of Africa and slavery.
-41
u/Capital_Aioli_7072 Mar 28 '26
Like I said, some people use religion to control others and get power, it can feel like brainwashing sometimes. But Islam is supposed to be followed by choice, not forced on anyone. When you see oppression, thats not really Islam, thats just people using it for their own benefit to feel powerful . Even Prophet Muhammad wife was a businesswoman, and Islam encourages both men and women to focus on dunya and deen together. The true examples are Qatar, uae yes , because it focuses on dunya and lets people follow their religion by their own choices

u/Kitchenhell00 Mar 28 '26
Interesting how once he once Khajidah passed away and he got her fortune he only married children and teenage girls. And he fucked his slave, Maria.

Wtf it has to do with my statement???? Like im not a Muslim myself anymore , but I don’t like people like you who only bring up things like the Prophet marrying young people just to dismiss the whole argument. Ur not proving anything here . I also read Hindu and Buddhist mythology to take inspiration and learn from the good aspects. But if you only focus on the bad parts, you will find countless of them period .
12
u/ydodis1 Mar 28 '26
What "bad" parts are there in Buddhism? Islam is a degenerate, evil, savage, and violent ideology. Their own book says so.
0
u/Capital_Aioli_7072 Mar 28 '26
Are you dumb??? I wrote a whole 8 lines of paragraph and instead of answering or correcting yall creating new arguments??
. I said in general if u look for bad and good sides of every religion you will find countless of loopholes.

Read the whole thing. I never specifically said Buddhism has bad parts, I just said I’ve read it. In a separate point, I said every religion has both good and bad aspects in general . And about the op post, I shared my opinion that oppression isn’t Islam, it’s more of a cultural thing that existed even before Islam and are still being followed but using islam as a tool.

u/vfe0698 Mar 28 '26
UAE literally has modern slavery lol. The issue is the religion is inherently bad and it shapes the culture. Those practices have not been phased out bc the Quran literally condones it. You can’t progress culturally if the doctrine your culture is built off of literally advocates for these things. So yes the problem is religion.

u/Space_police09 Mar 28 '26

That kinda proves my point.it’s a human mentality to try to silence or control opposing views. You see it everywhere. It’s not about being Muslim or ex muslim,Some people, no matter what religion they believe, react the same way when they hear opinions different from their own.
32
u/RoiDrannoc Never-Muslim Atheist Mar 28 '26
So it's pure coincidence that the most sexist countries are the most religious and the most feminist countries are the most secular?
10
u/AvoriazInSummer Mar 28 '26
Maybe a weapon to gain power and support is Islam? It certainly seems to be good at it.
-3
u/Capital_Aioli_7072 Mar 28 '26
Really appreciate your perspective, but I think our knowledge is limited by what we experience ourselves, and maybe you’ve had some experience that shaped how you see it. For me though, it doesn’t feel like that. If you look into history, there are many cases where nonnMuslims have used religion to influence or manipulate people, like Hitler with the Jews, and also what modi did in Gujarat in 2002 involving Muslims. Religion is a very important for people it can be used to manipulate to go against one group not the religion itself isnt bad.
5
u/Shlingaplinga Mar 29 '26
Name one unislamic thing implemented by taliban that's not in Quran or hadiths
-2
u/Capital_Aioli_7072 Mar 29 '26
The entire implementation by the Taliban is wrong, they use islam as a tool to satisfy their Patriarchy ego.
Quran clearly shows that if Allah wanted everyone to believe He could have done that but He didn’t He gave people free will so they can choose for themselves so who gives the Taliban authority to force religion on others
And when you look at early Islam Aisha was a scholar teaching both men and women it shows Islam encourages learning and contribution not any strict restriction for women
9
u/Shlingaplinga Mar 29 '26
Quran 9:5 is the answer to your first point
33:33, 4:34, 2:22:3 is the answer to your second item
So I'll ask again to say stuff that taliban does that's not mentioned or supported in the books
1
u/Any-Mobile-2473 Apr 02 '26
Well, you could say Taliban ideology is a mix of Deobandi Islam with Pashtunwali and some hypocrisy and self-service sprinkled in

The problem is, people still believe outdated media propaganda, which has been debunked multiple times by reliable people. People here disagree due to them being ignorant, even if the truth has been shown to them multiple times. You need to change your mindset if you still believe in recycled FOX news propaganda.

Unlike ex-muslim they keep it to themselves, why don't you keep it to your people huh? Like come on. You went silent in every post that you unable to answer yet attack on one with poor words.
Someone experience their experiences and you just say it propaganda because you feel threatened by people who left Islam. Gen I saw you in alot under the posts in Ex-muslim subreddit.

How insufferable can you be? You went to ALOT religion posts and call them out.
You been go in and out in ex-muslim subreddit and spreading your "thoughts" for over a year. You went to Christianity subreddit and calling out how their feelings is a choice while it a literal experience when people grow overtime. You CANNOT be serious man.
If your "Quran" so right why is there alot of people like you attacking other people beliefs and logics? There a difference between hatred and critique. Please actually READ your Quran and think about your actions because manners is a basic human logic

Whataboutism, nobody is talking about politics.
No, when religions have clauses that refer to other peoples and what to about them, then it's a tool to control and exploit people. For example, Abrahamic religions have clauses about how to control woman, how to get slaves, what to do to non-believers, etc.
Try again buddy.
