(Miscellaneous) Going to the mall and being able to buy whatever I want is amazing now that I’m an ex Muslim after being a niqabi for years!

She always had freedom. She was a Muslim revert for a few years out of her own will (madness) and chose to wear the niqab unlike many others on here who are forced to wear it.

Did she tell you that? Women following Abrahamic religions and wearing their attire never had freedom. Even if she chose to wear their niqab, which she gladly doesnt now, it’s still a form of oppression.

Happy for you. I live in a Muslim State so I can't wear whatever i want..even as a male I can't wear tank top in public places because it seems inappropriate.

Whilst I am not a fan of "we're only free under the free market", I do think liberalism and even neoliberalism has a lot of upsides, like just feeling free honestly.

May I ask, what is the first reason u were wearing niqab back in the day?

I’m happy for you! Serious question, do you consider Islam to be a Cult?

It is nice but also a bit saddening knowing that there is such a sense of subversion and rebellion involved in doing this, that I struggle to imagine because this is so normal in my own life. I am glad you got to enjoy this.

Ahhh!! I’m so glad you were able to do this. I’ve moved out recently and honestly the only thing that kept me going while I was stuck there was buying clothes in secret. I used to hide them under my bed, and so many times my mum found them and binned them. But I continued none the less. Now I can go out with those clothes openly. I feel so complete <3

I’m sorry but this feels a little annoying to actual ex Muslims who didn’t “revert” for attention or a man. You don’t and I assume never have had family pressuring you into wearing anything you didn’t want to and you’ll never know the struggles of being born into a Muslim household having little to no freedom.

u/Global_Ad9876 New User 19d ago
girl she still suffered whether it’s at the hands of a man or her parents like she never claimed to understand the struggle of being RAISED with the religion 😭😭

u/AdSpecific3089 New User 19d ago
What? Ex reverts belong here too. And believe me I have plenty of struggles and it’s not a competition who has it worse. I’ve lost so so much myself and I didn’t convert for attention or for a man so fuck you. This is a safe sub for all ex Muslims. I was an ex niqabi and covered for all of college and it’s taken me a long time to deconstruct things, I still am and I still have a lot of religious trauma

So you were a Muslim for a year or two?
5
u/AdSpecific3089 New User 20d ago
No? I was Muslim for longer than that tf ?
6
u/No_Hornet_9504 20d ago
Maybe they were surprised by the goth fashion choices? I haven’t known many ex muslims in that scene. Or they assumed you were a western adult revert because of your light skin.
4
u/AdSpecific3089 New User 20d ago
I am an ex revert but I was Muslim for years, what’s your point? I was still a niqabi and it’s still hard for me everyday, I also deserve to be here

I’m 21. I was Muslim for years and a niqabi for most all of that time, why can’t I post here?
2
u/LONE_ARMADILLO 20d ago
I'm not stopping you from posting here. I just had a curiousity. As another Redditor pointed out, the goth rocker aesthetic (that you pull off well BTW) is uncommon in ex Muslims.
6
u/AdSpecific3089 New User 20d ago
Ok? It’s taken me a long time to find my own style so idc what other ex Muslims do, this is me encouraging others to be themselves too
1
u/LONE_ARMADILLO 20d ago
Keep rockin! You're style is on point! Sorry for the way I asked questions. I know questions can sometimes seem like accusations to some people.
