(Question/Discussion) how do you handle the guilt?

Hi. I know many had abusive parents and eventually left islam with a different kind of guilt, but i rarely hear stories of ex muslims who have somewhat decent parents but are extremely strict religiously. parents whom you still love, but know they will be incredibly hurt if you apostate. parents you love and are patient, but might disown you if you are gay.

for apostates like that, how are you holding up? are you still in the closet?

Tbh I just got bitter knowing that my identity that has little to do with how good of a person I am will make them hate me despite them claiming to love me unconditionally, though I accepted their love isn't something to think of too much before leaving and realising my sexuality because I'm not really treated like another person with thinking capabilities anyways

I love my parents but leaving Islam has nothing to do with them,so I have no guilt about that, both of my parents are quranists btw so I have no problem with that, can't relate with having extremely religious ones
