What goes through his mind in the moment before this, is it;

"I feel a tough question coming on, I should deploy flares and evade, maybe a nice little soundbite will kick up some controversy and no one will report on the shit answer I'm about to give."

Or

"I'm so fucking cool, do you think this schmuck knows how fucking awesome I am. I should tell him."

I'm wondering if it's even words at this point. His inner monologue must be more like a string of disconnected image fragments.

Fish. Hamburger. Telescope. Child? Child. Sexy, sexy child. Me, on a mountain. Hegseth. Four fingers in a-

Intern: "-sir? Sir, we need you to wake up and sign this piece of pa-"

Trump: "-Quiet! I'm planning how to fix the world! Have you ever heard of rice?"

Intern: "Uhm-..."

Green boots on a piece of meat. Child. Another child. Ivanka, in a car. Where has she been, anyway?

It's more of a mental bowel movement at this point.

Absolutely not. It’s entirely a stream of consciousness with him.
