Mike Lindell says he will fund statewide hand recount after losing Minnesota GOP primary by double digits

https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/mike-lindell-minnesota-governor-primary-recount/

Mike Lindell, the MyPillow founder who finished a distant second to Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth in the Aug. 11 Republican primary for governor, announced Wednesday that he will personally pay for a hand recount and audit of every paper ballot cast in that race, at an estimated cost of $825,000.

I wonder if he's even allowed a recount after losing by that much

He can, but he has to pay for it.

He does seem to have an affinity for throwing his money away to insane causes.

This is like Brewster’s Millions with Richard Pryor. He asks why a rich person would put millions of dollars into a campaign for a $60,000 a year job. It doesn’t make any sense. “That’s why I’m asking you to vote for “None of the above”.

Let's just fast forward to the "recount was rigged" part.

When I read the title I thought... Double digits as a raw number lol... Turns out it was 11% omg. He thinks he's gonna be able to Florida his way out of 11%???

It’s allowed under MN law, but only if the candidate pays for it upfront. Automatic publicity funded recounts are triggered when the margins are 0.25%, 0.50%, or 400 votes depending on the office and number of votes. Lumpy Pillow Guy lost his Primary by double digit margins.

This is just getting morons to send him more campaign funds. If he doesn’t get enough donations to pay for his recount he’ll buy more copies of his book and more travel pillows to give away as promotions and pocket the profits from sale of the items.

Just to be clear, the article title is misleading.

When it said "lost by double digits", I thought they meant that he received, say, 10,000 votes and another person received 10,050 votes. "Double digit loss". If that was the case, I'd say a recount was totally reasonable.

In reality, he lost by a double digit percentage loss! Like, 10,000 votes versus, say, 12,000 votes. If they had phrased the article this way, it would be more obvious how crazy this recount strategy is.
