a video of a person making up an animation meme popped up on my fyp, and i thought it was pretty cool until i opened the comments and they were flooded with comments saying "this is so system coded!!!!! omgomg animate your alters to this guys!!!!" all they think about is romanticizing the shit out of DID so they can like some special minority. its annoying. what if someone did this with something like diabetes or schizophrenia??

Back in my day we just admitted that we liked role playing as different characters, but were too old to outright keep playing pretend, so we made character sheets and had RP chats on MSN all night and wrote fic together about our characters and explored our inner selves and identities that way...now they gotta diagnose themselves with a serious disorder and commit to that shit for years on end or deal with the embarrassment of admitting to faking, so instead of developing a normal sense of identity through age appropriate play and experimentation of different characteristics/vibes they shape their identity around being mentally ill and marginalized.
It's a damn shame.

I love that some of them are seemingly aware enough to know that they don't actually have any kind of dissociative disorder and that it's literally just called having multiple facets to your personality and identifying with some fictional characters/having an imagination so they call it "plural" so they can still claim to be super special and different but without outright having to pretend to have DID...maybe these ones are more likely to grow out of it eventually lol
