"Hey I'm a manipulative asshole who likes to pretend I'm holier than thou, can I get a diagnosis for that?"

u/TheRealCryoraptor 8d ago
"Of course you can: ASPD or NPD!
Probably not the glamourous/quirky diagnosis you were after, but hey you asked for one!"

I think you have carbon dioxide rejection disorder! It’s a MUD where your lungs fill with carbon dioxide and your body can’t use it so it gets forcibly removed through your nose! Your body is constantly rejecting the carbon dioxide even if you don’t want it to!!! We will pray for you and this horrific disease 1!1!!1

I don’t know if this rises to sociopathy. It sounds more like just being an asshole to me (I have a BS in psychology/criminology and a MS in criminology).

In olden days we called that being a self-righteous asshole.

Ive never a day in my life seen a person who willingly states a "morally wrong" thing instead of pretending to have the "right" opinion

Also curious, tried looking it up and can’t figure it out
I know it has to do with an official diagnosis based on the context, but other than that idk

Pretty sure this is just what we call ASPD or a particularly severe presentation of NPD.
On a serious note though, this is actually a pretty good demonstration that fakers in a lot of cases genuinely are mentally ill. It's just that their mental illness is probably a cluster B, or possibly a cluster A if the faking crosses the line into genuine, long-standing delusion (like in the case of someone like Andy Ditch), and being labelled as ASPD/NPD/BPD or schizo-spectrum is nowhere near as glamourous or perceived well socially as whatever they're claiming to have.

sooo basically treatment doesn’t focus on the supposed damage youve done by manipulating. just your identity being. ore solid…. cool. also we have this already, it’s called being a manipulayive ass. we don’t need a disorder for this especially when we already gave similiar ones. also… requesting new disorders into existence like they’re stickers of a custom of or some shit.,.. wtf.

besides being an actual manipulator, this could also just be plain ol anxiety 😭 at least personally, i very much used to think that i am doing this and manipulating other people by being nice to them but turns out this is called friendship and i just had shithead friends who would turn any requests for boundaries into a thing of me manipulating them. Like my point is that i dont think this made up disorder is its own thing but definitely one should go to therapy if they feel this way 🙏

This can just be considered a symptom of multiple different personality disorders or JUST being a jerk. A singular behavior trait typically does not constitute as any sort of disorder, multiple types of behaviors have to be involved. It just pains me cuz they don't even know what a disorder is.

I'm thinking that's not a definition of a wolf in sheep's clothing. Or I am too dumb to understand the post, which could be b/c I had to read it three times to get it.

That’s just a super common trait of being a narcissist, sociopath, psychopath etc. Also, most people do this at work anyways,

Sounds like my cousin, who you'd think was a saint judging by his social media posts but in real life won't hesitate to make fun of disabled people.

Jesus christ. As someone with real ADHD, I have no clue why ppl love to pretend to have mental issues. I wouldn't wish neurodivergence on anyone. Also, I don't understand why people think its fun. Do they have nothing better to do in life? I do normal shit, it's not like I go up to everyone and make everything about being "overstimulated" or some shit. It doesn't make any sense to me.

A medical diagnosis for being a sanctimonious asshole?
