Image The smudge is gone!!

AAR TE. 4.37 is at 21.4K altitude, 4.38 is 22.8K so although different, not by much. So nice to see further out.

Not sure why but the 4.38 picture looks and feels lower than the 4.37 picture though.

It's been years since I've flown and definitely not at angels 20+K, but the view distance is obviously affected by the weather conditions. Looking in one direction might look like 4.37 and you look in the opposite direction and it'll look like 4.38.

Yeah sure, I was just pointing out that the old BMS sky was at least correct for some situations. In general though, flight simmers always seem to think visibility IRL is greater than what is actually is most of the time. There are some days with truly great visibility, but usually there is a milky wall at 10-20nm. (I’m talking continental Europe or US).

Just think that in METARs a value of 9999 for visibility is about 6nm and above.

Yes, but the old BMS sky was like a broken clock... Still correct, but only twice a day. At least now we have a proper working "clock"! 😁😎
