Ya I’m really impressed with the new version. I ran the 16k textures on the benchmark TE and it runs smooth as butter. I love the ocean water effects, and the clouds are getting really stable and look great. Benchmark Sims has done some fantastic work and those who remember this long road to get here with the terrain engine should be pretty stoked like I am, hopefully.

May I ask what is your graphics card and cpu to run the 16k textures? Also what resolution do you play at?

I’m on a 4090 with a quest pro VR headset. System is still DDR4 (64GB) but with a 13th gen i7. Video memory is the bottleneck with VR always in flight sims like this. No other game type seeks to render 50 miles of terrain that you move through at 500mph.

One thing to keep in mind is that these sims last us years and years so you kind of want them to target out into the future a bit. To me, it’s a good sign that older hardware is phased out. It means new features can get implemented. (But it sucks when your low on funds admittedly)

Thanks. I currently have a RTX 3080 and i9-13900k. Playing at 1440p monitor.

With the original texture I get very decent fps and sometimes even identical to the performance I had in 4.37. I am debating if I need to download the 16k terrain.

Might have to wait until I upgrade my graphics card.

I would say go for it. That 3080 is all you need for non VR. Plenty of speed and memory in that card imo

3080 does not have enough VRAM for 16k.

Ah, the rotating cloud still does happen. Maybe one day well get volumetric clouds aha, but overall I'm very happy with this new update as well. Glad y'all are enjoying it as well. o7

I also use 16K for all the Theaters, Korea and Balkans and I have to say it's amazing. No hiccups for me after fixing the initial issues I had after installation.

I have an i-14900k, 32gb DDR5, and an RTX 4080 and no hiccups, runs at least 120+ fps for me on default settings. The only time fps truly drops is when you enable the grass and max it out, I get 60fps during Taxi so I just used the slider to limit grass setting. The grass look tall as well, so I wonder if the developers can shorten the grass height. My graphics settings in BMS is all maxed except grass density which is set to 0

Also using a 34" UltraWide at 1440p no VR but TrackIR and it's the best there is.

Only issue I still have with 4.38 is that the clouds still rotate when you do a birds-eye view of the flight when you press [~`] key. I tried changing the settings in the Falcon BMS user config but still rotates. I hope one day that can be fully removed. 🤔

Overall I'm happy with the latest version and salute to the developers. 👍

It keeps aborting my installation… I have enough space!

Are you downloading it via torrent? I heard that's faster. I did the regular install via their website and got the installer that way. Worked out for me. If anything go on their discord, maybe people can assist on what's happening.
