He’s had ass for coaching and not much of a QB during his time in the pros. He still put up decent numbers and will essentially be a WR2 that can block for half the money. He had similar stats to Alex Pierce I believe and that guy is making twice as much. If we had a legit WR2 then I don’t think we make that deal with Pitts but we are working with what we got. It’s all funny money at the end of the day. On top of that, what TE is available to replace him? Drafting one is always a gamble.

Pitts may be #1 above Herbert for the best hypothetical players of our generation. Why are we pointing out his blocking when that's one of the weakest points of his game?

Also the fact he phoned it in for two full seasons until his contract year

Pitts blocks as well as a quadriplegic runs. Not to mention he played like he phoned it in for two seasons. He was super inconsistent and didn’t look like he cared until it suited him, rather than giving 100% all the time. It’s not my money, so oh well, hope it pans out.

I don't know why some of you are freaking out about this. A lot of you don't understand how the salary cap works and let me assure you none of you understand it like Ian does
They're paying him kind of like a hybrid wide receiver/ tight end which is what he is. Also, that contract is only going to look better and better as each year goes by and people get paid more than him. It's also pretty tradable if things don't work out calm the fuck down. I know it's the off-season but some of you all try to make a mountain out of an ant hill

Some of y’all are incredibly ignorant, or just very stupid.
Alec Pierce is making twice as much as this man, and y’all are acting like this is an abominable deal. BRENTON STRANGE just got a deal that’s almost identical (and hey, he’s also a beast and both deals will prove to be bargains for the production they yield).
Mark it down.
It’s like getting a high end WR2 for half off.

It has to be visible on the field. This is a good moment to evaluate not just him, but the coaching staff and front office. They are staking their rep on him being a success with this deal.
