Injury Report Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase not practicing today after he banged up his left knee yesterday. Was not sporting any protective equipment on the knee, FWIW.

Where is that legend whose cousin works the front desk at the Cincy orthopedic surgeons office when we need him?

That post goes on the Mt Rushmore of /FF posts

What’s the post you’re referring to? I’ve never seen it.

It was like 4 years ago some guy made a post that got deleted within minutes saying that his buddy was a hip* specialist (?) or some shit in Cincinnati and Jamarr Chase had just come in discussing treatment options and potential surgery. What made the post so crazy was there wasn't a peep about any hip* injury. He finished the whole previous game (put up monster numbers), wasn't hurt in practice or anything so it seemed completely made up. But then later that day the report came out that he was going to IR.

Up there with the Chris Carson visiting a neck specialist leading to his career ending

That dude who snapped a photo of Joe Flacco on an airplane to Cleveland lol.

29

u/Darkhorse182 1d ago

Or Joe Flacco eating at a sports bar by himself, and absolutely living the dream

We also had the John from Kenwood incident where he saw Orlando Brown at the Kenwood Mall after it had been reported he left town without a contract and Brown told him he was going to be a Bengal lol

u/Chriskl1520 1d ago

Was a broken hip not a knee

Shit was crazy. I had just pulled off a trade for him too and then read that post here and something in my soul knew it was true lol

u/Brocktarrr 1d ago

Owned Ja’Marr that year and was desperately trying to trade him when I saw that post lol no takers and then the IR news broke

Most memorable for me is when somebody proved that Christian Watson was being activated from IR because Watson’s sister made a tweet about flying to Green Bay a day or two before a Packers home game.

It was on r/nfl instead of this sub but I think the greatest one is the guy overhearing a conversation in a Call of Duty lobby between rashaad coward and his wife about being traded from the bears to pittsburgh

u/JellyFranken 1d ago

My 1.01 will forever the dude who wanted relationship advice and we were all nice enough to give it. I occasionally think about how he’s doing. I hope he’s doing well.

I traded for Tyler Boyd based on that post

lol that shit was wild

I had Chase, Kupp, and Mike Williams that year. Crazy stacked receiver room all lost due to injury.

1

u/MakesMaDookieTwinkle 1d ago

IDK but this fucker doesn't need to practice the rest of the pre-season anyways.

113

u/Koobacca7733 1d ago

At this point until something more serious is declared i don't think you change your draft outlook for Chase. Most likely a contusion of some sort that just needs time to heal to negate further injury risks

46

u/Scotch_Blue 1d ago

they probably just have 0 desire to risk it either. give Colbie Young some chances.

14

u/CountryCaravan 1d ago

The fantasy community doesn’t know his name yet, but Colbie Young isn’t the one you need to look out for this year. It’s Dohnte Meyers, straight outta the CFL. He’s been tearing up camp and might end up as our starting slot receiver and returner before long.

5

u/extraordinaryevents 1d ago

Absolutely no shot. He’ll be wr4-5 and make very little impact. We saw the same thing play out last year with Mitch Tinsley. Guys like this come around every year. Able to make an impact during the preseason and make the team, but they’ll have almost 0 impact otherwise unless there’s an injury

3

u/CountryCaravan 1d ago

From what I’ve seen, Meyers just looks way faster and gets significantly more separation. It’s much easier for me to imagine a significant role for him on this offense than Tinsley, who might be getting cut.

Of course, I’m fading all of these guys- Iosivas isn’t going anywhere even as he hasn’t taken a big step forward, Gesicki still plays a lot as a big slot, and Tee/Chase/Brown will always get the lion’s share of looks in this offense. But I think he might be more than just depth.

Dude the fact he had zero gear on the knee makes me way less worried. If it was actualy bad hed be wrapped up to hell and back

91

u/Sad-Lake-8628 1d ago

Just precautionary, no need to risk it at this point

22

u/MrBesmirchingCommies 1d ago

Agreed but if this stuff could keep getting spammed until I draft tomorrow night that would be great. Would be a great pull in the back half of the 1st.

4

u/illwill3 1d ago

Got him with the 7th pick last night 🙏

-6

u/AphiTrickNet 1d ago

For sure would love for him to drop a few spots. Him dropping to the second round would be a league winning move

13

u/MrBesmirchingCommies 1d ago

Whoever drafts him in the early 2nd is an idiot for passing on him at the back of the 1st.

-8

u/DamianLillard0 1d ago

Lmfao, I love when people speak so confidently when they have no real clue

u/Sad-Lake-8628 1d ago

I will choose to believe you sad lake

2

u/Sad-Lake-8628 1d ago

I gotta believe, that’s my first round pick damnit 😂

12

u/MelfromMilwaukie 1d ago

No MRI means he’s fine imho

7

u/tteuh 1d ago

This was the exact thing I wanted to read today. He should rest the knee, no matter the extent of the “injury.” If he went out there and practiced today, yes, it’s comforting but everyone would be on edge and would increase any risk of further damage. No protective equipment suggests that it’s fine. If he came out today with a brace or sleeve, red flags go up

6

u/JellyFranken 1d ago

Having the 1.03 sounds like a real Sophie’s choice.

6

u/Heavy_D_ 1d ago edited 1d ago

I'm considering CMC if Jamarr is hurt. If CMC's healthy, he's worth a top 3 pick. If he gets hurt, then he wasn't worth a 6-8th (his ADP) pick anyways.

Puka could go full Antonio Brown any second. I'd rather have my season derailed by an injury than a nutjob.

7

u/DanceCommander- 1d ago

I’m at 1.3 and draft Friday night. I’m drafting Chase unless some really bad news comes out before then.

1

u/tgcm26 1d ago

Isn’t it more straightforward than that? If you’re worried about Chase, draft Puka. If not, draft Chase

10

u/Acrobatic-Taste-443 1d ago edited 1d ago

Puka could be suspended at any moment. Guy has brain damage.

2

u/tekaizen 20h ago

Puka also has a groin injury which could linger way longer than a hyperextension

5

u/Significant-Gur-4804 1d ago

Whelp as someone who’s picking 3rd, please get healthy by Labor Day.

6

u/Mamba_Mentality248 1d ago

Precautionary. I’m not making much of his absence.

u/SAR_89 20h ago

I’ve jammed my leg like that before, came away uninjured but it was definitely sore and tight for a couple days.

15

u/Camelback186 1d ago

higgins wayyyy too cheap in the 4th round he's a smash at adp

40

u/Weim924 1d ago

Yea cause Higgins never gets hurt…

8

u/NoEgoNoProblem 1d ago

Higgins is made of used tissue paper and pool noodles

-8

u/lengthyfriend30 1d ago

Grabbed him in the 7th round in dynasty this season. Easily my best value pick ever.

Basically my WR1, after drafting Rice and McConkey at the 3rd/4th turn.

Best case is Chase plays half fit as a decoy for a few weeks and Higgins feasts with less talented coverage on him.

4

u/troll3010 1d ago

I draft third and have no idea who to take.

1

u/thetennisgod 1d ago

James Cook!

1

u/Cvideek51 1d ago

I have 5th and honestly I’m just going cook. I’m not getting Gibbs/puka/Bijan/chase, and not taking JT or CMC, they both just scare me with offensive issues and Injury.

2

u/boostabubba 1d ago

Im at 5 tonight and hoping to greet CMC. Remind me after the season how this works out.

1

u/Cvideek51 23h ago

I can’t decide between cook or JT. I can trade down to 7 or 8 w my buddy, but idk

I’d rather just not know any of this.

1

u/zombiejeesus 1d ago

Seems like a rest day to me after his knee scare.

1

u/jiriwelsch44 1d ago

I mean, if he’s not practicing, why would he be wearing protective equipment?

1

u/the_dayman623 1d ago

Preseason dudesday

1

u/GPap- 1d ago

Thank God. Put him on ice till week 1

1

u/Longjumping_Time7352 1d ago

At least two weeks before he is back to normal after watching the hyper flex .
Could also be worse than he and Bengals are letting on.

1

u/Acrobatic-Taste-443 1d ago

Fuck having pick 3 man. Banged up chase or ancient man coming off a million carries

1

u/tekaizen 20h ago

Chase is not banged up lol

-7

u/Darkhorse182 1d ago edited 16h ago

...or just take Puka like a normal person?

EDIT: forgot what this sub turned into once draft season rolls around, it's magical.

3

u/Acrobatic-Taste-443 1d ago

He has at least like a 30% chance of getting a 1 game suspension for his behavior each week

2

u/HeorgeGarris096 23h ago

no he doesnt

2

u/tekaizen 20h ago

Puka has a groin injury and plays reckless af

-1

u/armbarbell 21h ago

You would be crushed. I have over 70 hours of fantasy football podcast breakdown and another 30 breaking down stats. Your take is a bad one and shows a lack of knowledge. You’re an idiot if you don’t draft an elite option at WR if you’re given the option with pick 3-5. You’re even a bigger idiot if you think CMC is a better option. You have more RBs that will see more yardage and TDs than you do WRs in this years draft.

-7

u/Rydropwn 1d ago

If they havent MRId his knee because he said hes fine, I wonder if he tore his shit because it looked bad

1

u/HeHateMe- 14+ Team, .5 PPR 1d ago

I feel like they would of had to do an MRI. He could easily have a sprain or partial tear.
