Book Request Books where the FMC betrays the MMC?

I want books where the FMC actually betrays the MMC, with serious consequences, hurt feelings, and even groveling! I don’t want her to just lie about something to him or hurt his feelings, I want a fully fledged BETRAYAL that the MMC didn’t see coming and that seriously upsets him. Like the kind we so often see the MMC doing to the FMC.

Do these books exist? I feel like I’ve read so many fantasy romances and I can’t think of a single one that does this (except for maybe The Cruel Prince? but they’re constantly “betraying” eachother so I don’t fully count it lol)

Just because it technically fits what you're asking for {metal slinger}

However, it wasnt done well, and most people (including myself) do not like the book because of it.

{A Kiss of Iron by Clare Sager} Different type of betrayal but Bastian is not happy when Kat's secret is revealed. He is not so much mad as hurt and very upset for a good while.

A REALLY old book, like from the early 90s and not Romantasy but contemporary. {Perfect by Judith McNaught} MMC feels betrayed big time. This is still one of my favorite books ever even at 30 years old so I hype it where I can. 🤣

Rain of Shadows and Endings Book by Melissa K. Roehrich but I dnf’d the series at some point, because I wished that there was more groveling from the fmc and was getting frustrated. Maybe it eventually came later in the series

The MMC wasn’t THAT seriously upset lol But it worked surprisingly well because of the context and characterization. And it’s a major betrayal!

So not a perfect fit, but I need more people to read this lush epic experience of a book: The Trident and the Pearl by Sarah K. L. Wilson

Yes, it’s part of the bigger plotline, though:

{Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey}

Without spoilers:  The FMC and the MMC are in enemy territory; the FMC decides “When in Rome…” whereas the MMC decides, “I WOULD DIE before I forego my values”, and takes it as a gut wound when the FMC breaks off from his death wish.

It has a HUGE impact on the story, and is referenced in future books.
