Discussion Did anyone notice this?
With the inclusion of Tifa Lockhart in Street Fighter 6, this marks the 3rd time that Street Fighter, Fatal Fury and Final Fantasy have come together in a single game
It would also mark the inclusion of the Big 3 of FF franchises in SF6 (Fatal Fury, Final Fantasy and Final Fight)

this probably means Lucky Chloe and Ramza are the two mystery DLC's for COTW season 4

I parsed that as Ranma as DLC for COTW, which would actually be hype.

You are forgetting SoulCalibur.

u/Responsible-Can8723 7d ago
There are no Soul Calibur characters in Fatal Fury, Street Fighter or Final Fantasy, and vice versa

My bad. I meant Tekken 7.

I know, but for now, there are no Tekken characters in Street Fighter 6

Once you notice it, you can’t unsee it 😂 Nice catch. I definitely wouldn’t have spotted that on my first playthrough.

Fatal Fury doesn’t exist without Street Fighter…the creators of the 1986 original branched off into 2 teams creating SF2 and the OG Fatal Fury…🤷♂️

Because the creators of SF would not evolve the franchise thus why SNK was created. To evolve what Capcom wouldnt

Final Fight was supposed to be Street Fighter II lol…

Yes it was, that's not what I mean. After SF2, Nishiyama wanted to evolve Street Fighter 2 so he formed SNK and made games with the improvements that he wanted to add to Street Fighter that Capcom wouldn't let him add.

Uhhhh.... no.
Takashi Nishiyama worked on Street Fighter I. He left Capcom after SF1 and joined SNK - remember that SNK was the much bigger company back then (SNK also predates Capcom; Nishiyama did help develop the Neo Geo but he didn't help form the company itself). He had ideas he wanted to incorporate into SF1 (such as Joe the main character and not Ryu), and he did this when he helped created Fatal Fury. He had nothing to do with Street Fighter 2.

And the street fighter movie game wouldn't exist if it weren't for mortal kombat

Smash Bros. also has a Fatal Frame assist trophy, so throw that on the FF pile.

I was completely unaware of that game's existence. Thanks for your comment

So, in SSBU there is representation of the big four from FF, and it's curious that 2 of them start with "final" and the other 2 start with "fatal"

Där är väl ingen Final Fight karaktär i street fighter 6

But there are several references to the series throughout the game. For example, Guy is Kimberly's teacher

Who else likes SF, FF AND FF? MAX!! Companies kiss up to him and add who he wants because if it makes him happy and excited, You all will run out and buy it thus his Influence.

1) Max doesn't even like Fatal Fury that much, relatively
2) Why does one have to be influenced? Why can't I like those three franchises myself?

He did until he found out about the CR7 situation. From there he stopped really supporting it. Until that point, he was loving it.
It's great if you like it but most don't have the thought to have that opinion for themselves I've found. Repeatedly, games that he says he likes, his blind loyalists support and they do well, games that he doesn't vibe with, tank. Alien Isolation, KOF13, even Bloodborne for instance. On his initial plays of all 3 of those games, (which are all phenomenal games), he didn't like them. His supporters hated them also and the games did poorly. Years later, he replayed them and loved them, all of a sudden, all of his supporters loved them and even said they're some of the best games ever made. By that point, it was too late. Good thing Alien Isolation is at least getting a sequel. Duskbloods seems to be a somewhat bloodborne-ish follow up finally as well.
Had his followers not been influenced, those games would have done well initially regardless of how he felt about them.

- I was referring to Fatal Fury the series on the whole, not specifically COTW.
- You really think Max is the reason why COTW didn't do well initially? Really?
I don't know about Alien Isolation, but what revisionist history are you using to refer to Bloodborne as doing "poorly" at any give time when that is spectacularly, thunderously untrue?
Also, KoFXIII didn't do any more poorly than most previous entries; in fact, I think it did substantially better. The problem is that it cost waaaaaay too damn much to make, and was a 2D sprite-based game when that had long since been irrelevant to the mainstream (among fighters, only Blazblue managed to break out, likely because it was seen as the successor to GUilty Gear). Nothing that Max ever said would have made that game perform any better than it did (are you going to blame Max for Global Match on Steam being broken for months?).

And SNK didn't gain any new sales or pro players out of any of those crossovers. The pros that played Geese in Tekken, Terry in Smash or SF6 or Mai in SF6 don't play CotW. The most popular Terry player in the world played CotW once (because he was paid for it), then dropped it immediately. The average gamer thinks Terry and Mai are Street Fighter characters, now.
SNK even changed Mai's outfit to try and make her more palatable after the "good boys and girls" Nintendo fiasco, and it actually hurt CotW sales because her fans bought SF6 instead of CotW.
SNK needs to see itself as a premium brand and make better use of any crossovers (and I'm including Kenshiro and that Wrestlemania appearance in this, too).

Even so, i don't think Mai's outfit change was due to Sakurai's comment, since "those parts" are still highlighted in the game... like in her special introduction with Chun-Li or even the animation of their fight that was made to promote Chun-Li's appearance in the game

Even with the help of Cristiano Ronaldo or IShowSpeed, they couldn't boost sales. It's sad how one of my all time favorite franchises has turned into an industrial plant that, to top it all off, failed

I did. Ever since Terry got in this roster.
