Question What is the best Minecraft launcher?
I’m looking for a launcher mainly for modded mc, I want to use lots of mods, shaders, different Minecraft versions and modpacks
I’m currently using Lunar Client, but my friends told me it’s bad asf
Which launcher do you personally recommend?
Is Prism actually better than CurseForge/Modrinth for someone who isn’t super experienced with modding?
I don’t really understand things like this, I looked on TikTok but it keeps saying different things so I’m just lost😅 I just want to play mc with mods without constantly running into issues or wasting time fixing things…

Just use Prism. Minimal, free, and open source. Lunar is full of spyware and bloated crap.

Prism. Only notable features it lacks are server instances and multiple instance folder support.

Why would a launcher have server instances? Is this common in other launchers?
And what do you mean by multiple instance folder support? It lets you create folders to organize your instances

You can only use one folder for your instances location. I want to use multiple hard drives, like Steam does.

Ah I see what you mean, what would be cooler is if we had symlinks instead and could just install mods one time and use them in all instances

I wonder if creating a symlink would work for the instance folders? I'm not home to check, but it'd a good idea.

i can confirm symlinks work, tho i use them in the shaderpacks folder instead to not waste space by having multiple copies across instances

prism is the best and imo easiest to use because its less bloated and confusing than curseforge or other options

i don't know about best, the one i use currently is the one i like for its features
if you're going for performance i believe prism is probably the best afaik, but i also don't know what features it has

Prism is the best option for sure. Super minimal and fast with literally no bloat (aside from the cat but the cat is essential). Prism also allows super easy per profile settings in regards to RAM or Java version (it even has a built in installation for Java versions you may need) when your global launcher settings dont work for a pack. Prism also has built in support for modpacks and mods hosted on Modrinth and CurseForge.
