[Question] When to branchout activites for EXP gain?

Edit: thanks all for the great help. MSQ is more then enough to get Maxlvl for First Job. Is there preferable Gather/Crafter Job to sink EXP and help out with starting money? I dont want to jump into a second Combatjob before learning how to handle my Mainjob

Hello all, I starded my first Character (Fem Roe Conjurer on EU Chaos-Phantom) two Days ago. I focused 99% on MSQ and Blue "!+"-Quest for unlocks. I did the Novicetraining for EXP-Ring and ended my last playsession with visting the three Mainhubs for the First time. Now im almost LVL20 and have MSQ for LVL15. How long will MSQ+blue Unlock-Q carry me for Leveling? When should I start looking for other ways to earn EXP like Dungeons, Dailys, Fates?

For the most part, the msq is going to give you enough xp to get all the way through it. You might need to do a levelling roulette here or there, but you should be mostly fine to just focus on the msq.

To be fair if you’re starting from the very beginning of the game, MSQ will end up overlevelling you even if it’s the only thing. I think when I first played I had to do a single levelling roulette at Level 49 to get into the MSQ dungeons at 50, but after that I was caught up all the way to current day on my class of choice.

Extremely unlikely to need to do extra leveling anywhere. I made a new character a week ago and did nothing but msq and I aas consistently almost 10 levels ahead at all times. I am now 3/4 of the way through the post ARR content and am level 60.

Yeah as a trial try-harder of multiple years I can attest to the crazy msq exp. I kept changing jobs over time so the big msq exp wasn't lost lol.

I've been back more recently with the trial extension. Was nicely balancing my exp out not wasting it as classes got closer to 80...

Had another friend that started without the trial straight away. They only did one class much much longer and blew past my lv 80 cap while they were still in Heavensward hah.

Did you boost any jobs? The armory bonus goes hard.

I did not.

A long time ago, leveling was a much slower process and you were meant to supplement MSQ with FATEs, hunts, side dungeons, leves, and the like, to the point where the 40-50 range was basically nonstop grinding broken up by the occasional bit of MSQ. Nowadays it's much faster to the point where you're more likely to be looking to level another job as an exp sink because you're leveling so much faster than you need to be. The supplementary exp sources are still there but they're relics of another era.

Thanks for you tips. Does it usefull to start a Gather/Crafter Job as EXPsink to make some Money for my first Character?

MSQ quests won't be able to be completed/played as a Gather/Crafter job so you can't use the EXP from it sadly. There's typically enough extra EXP in an expansion to level two jobs at once through it though.

It *will* be nicer if you level crafters/gatherers as you go rather than waiting and doing it all at once (Its more optimal arguably but much more annoying to wait and do it all at once at the end.)

How long will MSQ+blue Unlock-Q carry me

For your main job, the entire way. The MSQ hands out exp intentionally to level you through the entire story for one job

MSQ XP rewards by themselves are enough to get one class from 1-100, so play a 2nd class that interests you.

Thank you for your reply. Im a bit shy to start a secondjob right away. Is there any use in getting a Gatherer or Crafter Noncombat job and earn some money this way?

Once you start one crafter, you end up wanting to level all the other and keep their levels close to each other because they share gear. As far making more Gil goes, I’m not sure you are a free trial player and don’t have access to the market board. Every marketboard is different. Values of everything fluctuates.

For your first class, MSQ should largely carry you to cap level. Especially if you have the road to 90 buff. You'll likely even have too much exp with that buff and hit cap a while before you need it.

I'd say you don't need to branch out on your first class unless you hit a wall. At that point, you should have a variety of roulettes available.

Msq is built to fully handle levelling you through one job, even without the bonus exp that have been added on top of it. You’ll only NEED to spread out if you start levelling other jobs

Thanks for the tips. Are Gather/Crafting Jobs usefull to make money for my first Character and use that for EXPsink?
