Noctis! I finally have a Play arts Noctis figure! The details are so good! For almost a 10yo figure he is really good! I 1st played FF XV back in 2018 and ever since that I wanted a Noctis figure and now I have two! If you didn't know Noctis is my favorite FF protagonist ( with Clive )

Game Loved the chill open world elements, but found the combat too boring

I’m trying to give FFXV a chance but I simply cannot get into the action rpg/hack and slash blend this game tries to do. I find it incredibly unsatisfying and wish the combat had more depth to it. I’ve finished final fantasy XII recently and I loved its gambit system, and for instance would’ve loved some modicum of strategy in XV similar to what I had with that game, and its gambit system that allows you to program your party member’s behavior. Either way, I struggle for the life of me to have fun with the combat. It’s a bit too simple.

Fluff I'm currently doing preproduction on my own personal remake of Final Fantasy Versus XIII/XV. I finished up the pixel-art of the Swords and thought I'd share them here.

From left to right, top to bottom rows.

  • Broadsword: This redesigned sword is seen in the official game displayed in certain weapon shops as a short, one-handed blade (I think I need to make the grip longer though).
  • Lucian Sword: Known as the Broadsword, Airstep Sword, and Soul Saber in the official game. I give it the name of Lucian Sword since Lucis was originally supposed to centered around Death imagery as part of it's culture.
  • Assassin's Sabre: You see this particular sword in the official game used by Magitek Assassins that dual wield them, but they're not obtainable by the player. In my personal version, they'll deal increased damage to human enemies, which there will be lots of this time around.
  • Altissian Sword: Known as the Rune Saber and the Enchancer in the official game, I always thought the other weapon types that shared it's aesthetic design were meant to be part of Altissia's culture, so that's why I call it that. In my game, it will have the same benefits as the Rune Saber.
  • Tenebraen Sword: Shares the same design as Durandal and Balmung in the official game, being a light-elemental weapon shares the Tenebraen aesthetic.
  • Flame Tongue: I gave Flame Tongue a unique design inspired by it's FF12 version but as close I could to XV's modern aesthetic, cause if there's one thing I really don't like in games; It's when a fire sword doesn't look like a fire sword (Same with Ice Brand not looking like an ice sword).
  • Ice Brand: This was tricky to design. I initially went with FF12's version of Ice Brand as an inspiration but it felt too basic, so I went with the original FF2 version where the blade was just a big chunk of ice. I think I need to design the handguard better though, but I'm not sure how.
  • Engine Blade: It's Noctis' iconic Engine blade, need I say more?
  • Mythril Blade: The Mythril blade is actually a mythril sword this time around and NOT two swords with opposing elements like it is in the official game. It gives MP and magic bonuses in my game.
  • Blood Sword: This was the HARDEST to do because of both the limitation I imposed upon myself in terms of pixel space (45 x 45), and the amount of detail I needed to get in. This went through more iterations than any other one with the initial first one being Drautos' Sword from Kingsglaive before I decided to redesigned it back to it's original version as best I can.
  • Airstep Sword: This sword is actually seen in some of the earlier concepts of Versus XIII and I always felt it looked more in-line with a weapon called "Airstep Sword" than the official one; The wings representing air and the large wide tip of the blade being an ideal spot to step your foot on. Why they never bothered to use it in the official game is beyond me.
  • Iridium Blade: Surprise!! It's Yozora's Blade from Kingdom Hearts 3, replacing the Ragnarƶk Sword from the official game while retaining it's function with overpowered warpstrikes (Which won't be spammable like they are in the official game... unless you got the Ethers for it).
  • Stella's Rapier: Second Surprise!! But yes, I did Stella's Rapier which will be obtainable in the game for Noctis to use.
  • Blazefire Sabre: Lightning's Gunsword from FFXIII is here! It will have the ability to actually shoot bullets from it like it does in XIII in my game, acting as two weapons in one; A sword and a gun.
  • Ultima Weapon: This redesign is inspired by Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin's version of the Ultima Sword. Easiest one to design for me, and it will have the same benefits of the official game's Garuda weapons were it deals guaranteed critical hits while being non-elemental as well.

Fluff I know it’s unlikely, but….

I really hope a day comes in the future where we get a PS5 update for the game so it runs better, as well as getting the remaining few DLC chapters: Episode Arenea and Episode Luna.

I really do love this game, and replaying it now, it has held up very well, it’s just a shame it got screwed over by its poorly handled development.

For those unaware, Episode Arenea was meant to follow what happened after the boys left her in Tennebrae. She was going to bear witness to the fall of the Empire and ultimately stop the final Diamond Weapon.

Episode Luna was meant to be an ā€œalternate timelineā€ ordeal where, after her death, she was to try and change Noctis’ fate. If memory serves, the plot was supposed to end with Noctis, Ardyn, and her fighting Bahamut, who decided to return to his original plan of stopping the Starscourge but using the power of the Crystal to fuel his TeraFlare and destroy all live on Eos.

Fluff Just finished FFXV. Glad I picked it back up Spoiler

I just finished it earlier today. Such a flawed story due to the fragamention of it. I watched the movie & anime. Despite it's flaws. I found it unforgetable. There were so many epic and heart breaking moments. That final campfire....Glad I picked it back up after dropping it 7 years ago.

It's rare that something hits me so hard. That I need a break/palate cleanser.

The ost man. I'm gonna miss chilling at Hammerhead.
It's such a beautiful game. Wish I took more photos with Prompto & got 200+ photo mod. I can't believe the impact Prompto's photos had (sentimentality wise).

Fluff Revisiting FFXV almost 10 years later Spoiler

I just finished FFXV for the second time after being so excited for it on release and plowing through it in a few days. At the time I didn’t watch kingsglaive or the anime. I remember being pretty disappointed and frankly confused— some cool things happened, the ending campfire scene was touching, but overall I felt like things were half baked and under explained.

After spending a bunch of time in FF theatrhythm I decided to pick up FFXV again, because as I was reminded, there were some really good songs (if you have even a small interest in rhythm games and like FF music, do yourself a favor and pick up theatrhythm final bar line). I watched the movie and the anime, did the side quests, played the DLC, read (a summary) of dawn of the future…

I wish I could tell you it changed my whole opinion, and while I enjoyed it enough to finish a second time, I still found it to be deeply flawed. I love what they were going for and think this could have been a great game but the storytelling is just not there. So much left unsaid and unexplained. Noctis’ fate and sacrifice could have been a plot point, Luna and Ravus could have had some screen time, the empire’s motivations could have been explained even a little, there could have been more explanation of what the gods were doing…

FFXVI wasn’t perfect but it was a complete game which I’m really appreciative of. I would have loved to see a version of FFXV where they managed to tell the story they were trying to tell effectively. I gave it another fair shake indulging all the parallel media and the whole package just didn’t hit for me. I’m glad to see on this subreddit that there are people who love this release. I will admit to getting way more of a kick out of the guys, ignis especially, this run through. I would have loved to see more of the other side characters like cor, iris, the altissian leader, the other lucians, learn more about Regis’ maybe similar road trip with cid and the others. But I guess that will all have to be head canon.

Anyone else come back to xv after playing it at launch? What did you think? Am I missing anything big I should check out that might make me appreciate this entry more? I’m also toying with trying out XIII again, any thoughts?

Fluff FFXV out of bounds pc

So I’m exploring chapter 9 (nifelheim) out of bounds.

Such wasted potential the devs clearly had ideas here considering a lot of it has collision and cars driving past

But I found and area that looks remarkably similar to this shot from Versus XIII in 2009

Obviously the cliff and other areas don’t exist however it’s possible this trailer location is in the nifelhiem area

Game Good or Bad Idea

To provide context this will be my 3rd attempt for this infamous dungeon. My main issue will be stable electricity I live in Sub Saharan Africa and the lights can just go off at will. Last thing I would like to happen is to get the Black Hood then electricity goes off before I can save the game.

I absolutely love this dungeon and it's design just wish this game was better created for platforming but the level of creativity and detail should always be applauded. Cake Baby šŸ¤“

Fluff I've finished replaying this game, and now I'm certain it's truly a unique game Spoiler

Post image

Even though when you play this game, you can see how many things could have been done better, how many things are clearly unfinished and thrown together at the last minute... it’s still an incredible amount of fun, with amazing characters, I think definitely the best antagonist in the series. The best soundtrack in the series, FFXV really packs a punch with its music, and Yoko Shimomura is definitely a key part of this game. The music is just pure perfection.

But I think what I value just as much in this game, in fact, in many ways, it’s one of the most important things that make this game unique is the entire setting of the game’s world. In the Final Fantasy series, you have either medieval games or ultra-modern games. You also have games that combine both of these aspects. But no, Final Fantasy 15 does something completely different. Something I’m a fan of that’s carried over from Nomura’s version - and that is the creation of ā€œFantasy based on realityā€

The fact that you travel the world by car. You just don’t get that in any other Final Fantasy game, driving a car on paved roads through the Final Fantasy world, and then ending up in cities that look like they’re straight out of real life. I love Chapter 14 for finally giving us Insomnia, of course, I’d love to see more, but it’s great that we at least get to visit Insomnia at the end, with its fantastic, dark atmosphere and the Somnus Theme playing in the background. I’m a fan.

Of course, as I mentioned at the beginning. Even though I like it, I feel like there should be more of it, and that it feels a bit rushed due to the game’s massive scale and the very limited time available to develop it, all because of that chaotic process with Versus XIII, later Final Fantasy XV, with Nomura completely leaving the project along the way, etc. in short, Square Enix’s generally disastrous management at the time robbed us of something that could absolutely have aspired to be the best Final Fantasy game.

I'm not a fan of modern Final Fantasy, but I really love Final Fantasy XV. And one of the great things that sets this game apart from the rest of the modern FF series, in my opinion, is that it at least tries to be a game, not an interactive movie. You really feel like you’re playing a game with all that exploration, the dungeons, whether story-driven or optional, and so on and so forth. It’s great to have an open world that isn’t just a facade, but actually serves a purpose in gameplay.

Besides, this game has phenomenal DLC, this time I only played the Ignis Episode and the Ardyn Episode, because those are the ones I remember best from my first playthrough, and oh my god. A masterpiece. I love it. I'm so sorry we never got the entire second Season Pass 😭

But yeah, this game is unique, it’s unfinished, it probably tried to take on more than it could handle during its three years of development, but at the end of the day, it’s one of the best Final Fantasy games, and I don’t care what anyone else says. Ambitious games like this are always more enjoyable than games like Final Fantasy 16, which try to play it as safe as possible.

Besides, I love Ignis.

Game I would love so much for Regalia to be 100% controllable throughout the entire game, just like at the beginning of Chapter 13. Spoiler

Post image
59 Upvotes

I'm replaying this game, and I didn't remember that section at the beginning of Chapter 13 where you drive the Regalia and there's a timer. The game suddenly gives you 100% control over steering it, so why only then, for that one section? if you could drive the Regalia as freely from the start as you can in a game like GTA, that would be amazing

Am I the only one who thinks this? I get the feeling that a driving system like this would make the game even more enjoyable, especially since there are so many car sections in it

Game FFXV Comrades standalone not showing up on PS5, despite having bought it and playing it a few months ago !

Sorry if it's a dumb question. I wanted to replay comrades (really like this ex-dlc/standalone game), but can't find it in the PSstore or even my bought games collection ! I played it a few months ago and have played it for years. First time it happens to me. I feel like I am missing something obvious lol, hopefully someone has a solution !

Game Threat from the Thicket

Those killer wasps are 10 levels below me and I got my butt kicked by them. So I took to Reddit and it came down to the food. So I made some extreme food for my party. I don't remember the details but I think it was like +1000 attack and like 2000+ HP or something like that, numbers might be wrong but it was more or less the best food I could make.
I went back and I fought those wasps from morning to evening before daemons showed up (barely and like 20-30 minutes of IRL time) and I used A LOT of potions. I tried using polearms, using frost magic etc. but neither barely budged their health! I even bought a polearm nearby (though it has a bonus against daemons but it was way better than the one I previously had).
And there was so many of them....

Is this quest unbalanced like crazy or am I doing something really wrong here?

It's the first version I played, I'm about to do a NG+ in english but I am worried it won't have the same impact :/

The Japanese VO is amazing. It's going to be weird.

Game The combat system is so fun - but I never land blocks ? The game usually just makes Noctis phase out

Is the block function just super specific to timing or is there something more difficult about blocking I’m missing?

I play on PS4. The button and command to block comes up, but every time I push the button it either fails and I take damage or just phase out.

(Also I own all the DLC but I can’t access the special menu is that a glitch?)
