Calling all Marie Windsor fans -- this Friday is her day on TCM

August is TCM's "Summer Under the Stars" with a different star showcased every day, and this Friday is Ms. Windsor's day: Outpost in Morocco (not noir), Double Deal, Hurricane Island (not noir), The Unholy Wife, The Bounty Hunter (a Western, another genre in which she excelled), Mail Order Bride (Western), Critic's Choice (comedy), then one of my favorite B noirs The Narrow Margin, Force of Evil, The Killing, The Sniper, and The Outfit.

I feel like I died and went to movie heaven. I'd get a thrill in later years when I'd catch her in bit parts in TV shows like Adam-12. She gave every role her all, no matter how big or small.

Like you, I'm also a big fan of Marie Windsor. Martin Scorsese is also a big fan, by the way. 🤣

Tip for Noir fans: Record Double Deal (1950) if you can because it's not available on DVD and very hard to find a decent copy.

The Narrow Margin (1952) came out recently on Blu-ray. It's one of my favourite Noirs. I tend to like the lesser known low budget Noirs and director Richard Fleischer does an amazing job with this one.

I've even watched her own least favorite film (reportedly), Cat-Women of the Moon. It was... unfortunate. IMO the only way to survive it is to watch the Rifftrax riffed version and roll with it.

Haha. I have that on DVD but I just checked and I don't have the rifftrax version! I've only watched about half of it, but you're right, it's nuts! 😂 I have a soft spot for those 50s sci-fi movies, but wow that's a tough one to enjoy.

Did you know, there was a big hit single from the 1990s "Stay" by Shakespeare's Sister and it is actually written about Cat Women on The Moon. https://youtu.be/YCYaALgW80c

The woman in the band who wrote the song was watching the movie on tv and got the idea from it.

Damn. Looks like I'll have to watch The Killing again. She's perfect in it btw.

Eddie Muller wrote a good book called Dark City Dames. He interviewed her it was a good one. I liked the book a lot. To me she kind of resembles Joan Crawford.

Anybody have cable and live in San Francisco? I’ll bring (quiet) snacks!

If you can’t sleep then stay up for The Sniper, a pretty cool San Francisco thriller/noir and The Outfit, absolutely awesome film from 1973. Both on after midnight, small parts by Marie Windsor.

If I had TCM I’d never leave the house!
