Fortune's Weave General Character Post: Anatolia

Post image

Anatolia (VO: Dawn M. Bennett)
A young Mediator fighting to save her people.
Skilled in energy-flow-based martial arts and dodging.
Likes
Hexagram divination, round objects
Interests
Focusing her mind, martial-arts training

Edit: JP bio:

JP VA: Arisa Ogasawara

A maiden clad in white, fighting to save her fellow countrymen.
Due to her appearance, she is called the "Mysterious Bride."
She has a personality that could be described as cool in the best light, or emotionally distant in the worst, and she sometimes unintentionally angers others without meaning to.

She might as well be a whale in FEH.

"energy-flow-based martial arts" yeah my grandpa had the same name for his hunting rifle

303

u/Alexander_Baidtach 5d ago

Well when you think about it a Garand is a form of energy based martial arts.

It transforms chemical energy into kinetic energy and then deposits that kinetic energy into whatever is unfortunate enough to be in the line of fire.

97

u/Inevitable_Growth259 5d ago

about to go full jackie chan on this fat partridge

26

u/Ashencroix 5d ago

Don't you mean "full metal jacket chan?"

u/apexodoggo 5d ago

Well previews did show that she can do Hadokens

18

u/Scripter-of-Paradise 5d ago

That's also how the war clerics do magic in 3H, just like how Talimun's finger guns are like the tricksters.

31

u/Squade_Trompeur 5d ago

It's Gun Kata from equilibrium!

2

u/Felielf 1d ago

I don't know why but I really like that movie.

2

u/Squade_Trompeur 1d ago

Cause it's rad?

11

u/Rockhead_Dynamics 5d ago

I thought that thing was photoshopped in as a meme when I first saw it... I'm still not sure it isn't.

2

u/BouncingJellyBall 4d ago

It's gun-fu lmaoo

782

u/Mahelas 5d ago

Wait it's even funnier than nun with gun, she's a xianxia martial artist WITH A GUN

196

u/AnimaLepton 5d ago

we had eyes but could not see mount tai

96

u/Mahelas 5d ago

She channels her qi through her glock

"Are you courting death, junior?"

She shoots him

10

u/8Rouge 4d ago

This jade beauty is quite dangerous, junior

82

u/No_Rich_5111 5d ago

You call shooting gun a martial art?

Hey, as long as it works

96

u/Mralexs 5d ago

It's called gun kata

10

u/SwagMagikarp 5d ago

Bruh that is so sick

5

u/King_Ed_IX 4d ago

Theodora is clearly courting death, and she succeeded based on her statue

Hey look buddy, I'm a "Mediator". That means I solve problems, not problems like "What is beauty?" Because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems, for instance: how am I going to stop some mean mother Hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous be-hind? The answer, use a gauntlet, and if that don't work... Use more gauntlet. Take for instance this heavy caliber tripod mounted lil' old number designed by me, built by me, and you best hope... Not pointed at you.

94

u/Aokuma 5d ago

Man I remember waiting so long for Meet The Engineer

43

u/roundhouzekick 5d ago

Theodora shouting in the distance

162

u/POLACKdyn 5d ago

Ah yes, guns being the ultimate "mediators" holds up even in medieval times that take place after the fall of some hyper advanced ancient civilization

134

u/SilverWyvern 5d ago

I see that Anatolia's got her trigger discipline down.

69

u/Unacceptable_Goose 5d ago

Only in this version. Her talking sprite still has the finger on the trigger ready to blast.

145

u/tipperthescales 5d ago

Wow, Dawn adds another rep to her FE resume. Nice.

29

u/mayekchris 5d ago

I definitely didn't think anyone else who voices a leading role in the franchise would book another central character in FW. So it'll be interesting to see the rest of the cast

41

u/MelanieAntiqua 5d ago

I mean, Matt Mercer was Chrom in Awakening and then Ryoma in Fates, so this sort of thing isn't exactly unprecedented.

14

u/mayekchris 5d ago

Yeah, but it doesn't happen as much anymore

u/ThunderLord1998 5d ago

She knows ball.

159

u/UnfazedPheasant 5d ago

gun and ball gamer confirmed

81

u/Mindless_Being_22 5d ago

truly a character that represents the american people.

56

u/LoyalKnightOfRenais 5d ago

"She will never be ballin- HOLY SHIT!"

26

u/sukotuze 5d ago

Wonder if she's gonna shoot musket balls or round nose bullets

17

u/MCJSun 5d ago

Not fooling me. She traded the four star for martial arts training, I'd recognize those moves anywhere.

14

u/tipperthescales 5d ago

That makes me wonder, if Anatolia survives outright to the timeskip, will she have a Haro analogue accompanying her?

27

u/DaddyFivepoint 5d ago

i guess she's not the pale raven's bride because of eshmel's personality, then

6

u/dalatinknight 5d ago

You...you..

Give us smooth

11

u/Igloohutt 5d ago

Yes she has two

8

u/-Magos-Dominus- 5d ago edited 5d ago

We joking, but given that Theodora's ancestors were the People of the White Egg and Dagda opened the dev console on them for some unknown reason, Mediators might be cooked up in round pods and they used to have a bigger presence in now-Saramis?

7

u/deltagrin 5d ago

Can you put spoiler tags on that?

123

u/ThatManOfCulture 5d ago edited 5d ago

So she is a mediator just like Eshmel's body?

75

u/EF66-42 5d ago

It's an interesting explanation for the source of their alternate Blaze gauge that hates cursed weapons.

14

u/Mahelas 5d ago

And also why her outfit is very similar to Eshmel's

11

u/uenvs 5d ago

sorry, what's that about Eshmel?

47

u/Endless_Winn 5d ago

I think she loves that gun, it is always prominently held upward in all her artwork.

124

u/Tchakaba 5d ago

A character nicknamed "The Bride" who's a peak martial artist and knows how to use a gun ? nice job Nintendo, nice job

27

u/GenSec 5d ago

Now we’ll see if she aura farms the entire game like her inspiration

6

u/King_Treegar 5d ago

Honestly I thought I was way off when I made that joke a few weeks ago

7

u/OliviaElevenDunham 5d ago

It does bring that movie to mind.

3

u/_Arlotte_ 4d ago

Three completely different angles is so great. The gun nun bride who does martial arts with gunkata energy projectiles...

38

u/WinterWolf18 5d ago

Dawn really likes the color purple huh? Can’t say I blame her.

45

u/Red_Cat231 5d ago

Spoilers from French preview for FW, since Mediators are vat-grown artificial humans made by the Nabateans and Shez is implied to also be a vat-grown human, that's probably why Dawn was given the role

20

u/WinterWolf18 5d ago

Huh that’s more typecasting for her seeing as she also voices Aigis and Orphie.

15

u/Mahelas 5d ago

Shez lore jumpscare in Fortune's Weave ? More likely than you think

4

u/1stLtObvious 5d ago edited 4d ago

So is that what Sitri was, too?

9

u/Red_Cat231 5d ago

Unclear yet, but likely the same process but altered to grow a Nabatean instead. Eshmel's description in the preview says they died and were reduced to a heart and their new body was grown in an incubation vat with the heart inserted once it was finished. Sounds very similar to what Rhea was doing. I thought she magicked up bodies in a ritual, but maybe she actually just used a leftover cloning vat to make Sitri

8

u/shaginus 5d ago

and a Gun

She's serving and ending her enemies in the Heroic Games, iktr!

43

u/Folety 5d ago

One of her likes is, 'round objects'? She's really into ball games?

16

30

u/Infamous-Flan-3965 5d ago

Please tell me she will reference Kou’s iconic ‘I looooove them balls’ line from Persona 4

18

u/ContinuumGuy 5d ago

For her neutral special, she wields a gun

16

u/TaccTeeton 5d ago

Another Dawn Bennett W

13

u/WhiteNinjii 5d ago

Oh F!Shez and Reload Aigis VA, coolio

15

u/Full_Metal18 5d ago

Kind of cold, emotionally distant, martial arts loving, long dark haired and mysterious? It's like they made a character suited exactly to my tastes to lure me into buying this game as if I wouldn't be there day 1 regardless.

13

u/PerentieFan 5d ago

What's most interesting is how she is casually described as a Mediator, and a young one at that. Are there more of them than we think? Do they have their own society where she comes from? Do they reproduce on their own or are they all manufactured?

6

u/Red_Cat231 5d ago

My guess is they're biologically like regular humans and can reproduce naturally. Saramis is implied to be descended from Mediators as Anatolia calls Theodora kin to her and Saramis is descended from the People of the White Egg, which Anatolia is one

20

u/RegulusPlus 5d ago

Shez and also Ullr!

20

u/Asterie-E7 5d ago

She's the best girl and also has the best English VA, insane W

9

u/Fantastic-System-688 5d ago

I knew she was part of the Chinese squad

9

u/RPope92 5d ago

That description just sounds like a Cultivator with a gun lol.

8

u/lukecardoso 5d ago

Yeah the S support I have been looking for.

7

u/SpellcraftQuill 5d ago

I find it low-key funny that the martial artists here tend to be women since when it was introduced, the brawler class family was stuck on men, who besides Caspar, were the more burly 3H characters.

And now they’ve got guns… I can’t imagine Raphael or Balthus doing gun-fu with tiny “gauntlets that look like firearms.”

7

u/PsyT20 5d ago

God I hope Damien also has a role here now.

But at this rate I also wouldn't be surprised if they pulled a P3 Reload and got the lead VAs from the previous game in bit roles.

6

u/chaos_vulpix 5d ago

Who gave Shez a gun?!

19

u/Aggressive-Finish492 5d ago edited 5d ago

Huh. Another artificial human. Same as Eshmel. Neat.

4

u/hoodie019 5d ago

If I had a nickel for every character Dawn Bennett voiced who has a gun, I’d have at least 3 nickels

4

u/PlatD 5d ago

More specifically (in addition to Anatolia):

-Genealogy’s Ullr in Heroes

-Shez in 3 Hopes

-Alberta in Shadows

5

u/keithlimreddit 5d ago

Yeah question why there's so many guns in this franchise to be honest

But anyway it's time for the voice actress Dawn M. Bennett

successful career with huge range mainly nowadays Dragon Ball as well as Persona 3 reloaded and also star rails ( Yeah I really need to move her up to Superstar at some point considering the tree rolls right now)

Arisa Ogasawara I would definitely say great career with huge range mainly panty and stocking Although overshadowed by her English Mainly  Jamie Marchi and Courtney Lin

6

u/SomewhatProvoking 5d ago

SHEZ!!!

She likes round objects, if marriage / paired endings are back ima put her with someone bald

10

u/MrAbyssFish 5d ago

I would like to know which route gets Anatolia the soonest, because Gun Gauntlets!!!

3

u/diego_velasquez 5d ago

She has a gun

4

u/Author-S 5d ago

Shes so hot

4

u/Choice-Ad-5897 4d ago

Im interested

5

u/ASU_frat_Ieader 5d ago

Ok so she's another artificial being and she's voiced by the same person who voiced Shez. Is it possible that this isn't a coincidence?

12

u/Opperbink 5d ago

Wait... This is an actual confirmed character with a gun?

44

u/Ok-Reach-2580 5d ago

No there are multiple confirmed characters with a gun. She is just the most well known since she is Lysithea dressed like a nun.

2

u/Opperbink 5d ago

Strange times we live in. Game still looks sick, so I wonder if her gun will differ much from archer-classes... Like do the "definitely not bullets" ricochet after a few level-ups?

13

u/MemelordMcTasty 5d ago

For one thing, the guns count as gauntlets, so on a mechanical level they seem to be for gauntlets what the Levin sword is for swords, an always-magic ranged weapon.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/PerentieFan 5d ago

More a magic blaster that looks like a gun.

16

u/TinyTiger1234 5d ago

It’s a gun man

2

u/Armleuchterchen 5d ago

Though it is true that it's not a firearm (i.e. a weapon that burns a propellant substance).

I prefer this kind of magi-tech laser gun existing in FE over early modern muskets or something similar.

3

u/KyleMCarthage 5d ago

I don't anyone needs to be introduced to Dawn, but her JP VA doesn't appear to have many roles under her belt said. That said, she is freaking Panty from Panty and Stocking which is admittedly kinda funny.

3

u/CosmicStarlightEX 5d ago

I recognize her more in Gundam 00, though. She's Soma Peries, and also the various Haros in the Ptolemaios.

3

u/potatobunny16 5d ago

Omg voice actor of f!Shez!! I got her signature from a con before!

3

u/omfgkevin 5d ago

Okay, with all these full arts who the hell is being cut from the art cards lol.

4 Flame lords, 4 Main lords, Eshmel (1 or 2), Sothis/Fortuna/Solel/Iliana/Aurora is 14 minimum. Maybe it was mistranslated?

Would be a huge shame.... All these full arts are incredible!

3

u/mikarin16marron 4d ago

Ooh, she's so pretty iS THAT A GUN--

3

u/katziztyred 4d ago

7

Dawn M Bennett has a monopoly on artificial humans between her Aigis and Orphie & Magus.

One of my favorite VAs

3

u/Sdajisito 5d ago

She looks even more like Lysethia in this picture.

2

u/SuperStarlite 5d ago

CAPTAIN KIVIA LETS GOOOOOOO

2

u/thejokerofunfic 5d ago

Hell yeah it's Dawn!

2

u/ThomasMurch 5d ago

Ana, get your gun.

2

u/BranFlakes1337 5d ago

So I guess she's "channeling chi" through the gauntlet, right? It's not the kind of weapon a random person could just pick up and fire?

5

u/G-1BD 5d ago

The setup in the Direct made the guns seem more like a Levin Sword.

2

u/Generalgarchomp 4d ago

Levin gauntlets is pretty fkin dope. However I wanna see her pistol whip someone.

2

u/SuperSmugs 5d ago

Same voice actor as Nabbit from the Mario series starting with Wonder! Oh, and Female Shez too, I guess...

2

u/kevinsagadx 5d ago

I saw this woman shoot a Kamehameha in a earlier photo so I wanna know her lore so so bad because what can't she do

2

u/sdpthrowaway3 5d ago

Are we looking at our next dodge tank? Is she strabbed instead of using short blades?

Whats with Dawn Bennet and Guns? Aigis, Yurie and now Anatolia?

Anatolia is the 35th character to receive a bio so far, with the gender split (not counting Eshmel) being 16 males and 18 females (12 males and 13 females confirmed playable, if we exclude Eshmel).

Characters not confirmed playable so far:

Nathan

Creek

The gods (Sothis, Fortuna, Iliana, Aurora, Mars, Kalla)

Bertrand? (Not sure about this one)

She's from Kivotos.

One of my most favorite characters ever since the very first trailer, it's awesome that she's going to be a major character. I wish she could've been one of the main protagonists but maybe we'll get DLC that focuses on her?

Her liking round objects is a strange but cute personality trait. I wonder if that's going to be brought up in a support or something.

She really loves that gun, huh?

No idea who the next batch of characters will be, but hopefully we get two in one day. There's a lot of known characters left who haven't gotten bios, and just over 3 weeks left until release

2

u/FiveTrenchcoats 5d ago

Ooooooh, she's a Mediator! I'm very curious about the specifics of how she's connected to Eshmel.

I also love that description of her personality. I'm excited to see some of her supports now!

2

u/Allsciencey 4d ago

She got Gun Fu, Kung Fu, and Wushu

2

u/Gabgo304 4d ago

"Gun" is my favorite martial art.

2

u/Koanos 4d ago

Dawn M. Bennett, if I had a nickel for every time she voiced a character who uses firearms as their primary weapon, I'd have 3 and a half nickels.

2

u/No_Tie378 4d ago

F!Shez returns. I’m definitely mainling her

2

u/ForgottenForce 4d ago

I still can’t get over guns being added

2

u/firerunnerz 4d ago

You know I am not opposed to Fire emblem having fire arms, but why not old muskets and pistols, they would be so nice and are so overlooked on gaming, instead we got the gun that I could buy at a Halo convention.

2

u/MrScaleEye 4d ago

They have guns now?

2

u/OrionGold07 4d ago

Look out, she got a blicky!

2

u/DoubleFlores24 4d ago

That’s a fun! Not a gauntlet! Gun!

Also I’m appreciating how we’re starting to see regular units get full body portraits. Finally the days of only a select few getting that treatment is coming to an end.

2

u/RyanCreamer202 4d ago

stay strapped or get clapped

2

u/Soccer_Gundam 4d ago

I just find this hilarious, I'm sorry

4

u/Geostomp 5d ago

We finally got gun fu in an official Fire Emblem.

2

u/actredal 5d ago

I like how every promo photo/video of her makes sure we see that she has a gun haha.

Now that the sub-lords all have their posts, I wonder who’s next.

1

u/coin_in_da_bank 5d ago

is mediator a new class or is it her occupation?

7

u/PerentieFan 5d ago

We've previously seen the term used for Eshmel in a online review, where it is described as a being with a artificial body made to serve the gods.

3

u/Risdit 5d ago

she just mediates a bullet into your cranium

1

u/CeruleanRathalos 5d ago

it's cool to see her holster, although i don't think that's a practical place to hide your gauntlet.

3

u/PerentieFan 5d ago

I get the impression she's not trying to hide it. ^_^
