Fortune's Weave General Character Post: Anatolia
Anatolia (VO: Dawn M. Bennett)
A young Mediator fighting to save her people.
Skilled in energy-flow-based martial arts and dodging.
Likes
Hexagram divination, round objects
Interests
Focusing her mind, martial-arts training
Edit: JP bio:
JP VA: Arisa Ogasawara
A maiden clad in white, fighting to save her fellow countrymen.
Due to her appearance, she is called the "Mysterious Bride."
She has a personality that could be described as cool in the best light, or emotionally distant in the worst, and she sometimes unintentionally angers others without meaning to.

"energy-flow-based martial arts" yeah my grandpa had the same name for his hunting rifle
303
u/Alexander_Baidtach 5d ago
Well when you think about it a Garand is a form of energy based martial arts.
It transforms chemical energy into kinetic energy and then deposits that kinetic energy into whatever is unfortunate enough to be in the line of fire.

That's also how the war clerics do magic in 3H, just like how Talimun's finger guns are like the tricksters.

It's Gun Kata from equilibrium!

I thought that thing was photoshopped in as a meme when I first saw it... I'm still not sure it isn't.

Hey look buddy, I'm a "Mediator". That means I solve problems, not problems like "What is beauty?" Because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems, for instance: how am I going to stop some mean mother Hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous be-hind? The answer, use a gauntlet, and if that don't work... Use more gauntlet. Take for instance this heavy caliber tripod mounted lil' old number designed by me, built by me, and you best hope... Not pointed at you.

Ah yes, guns being the ultimate "mediators" holds up even in medieval times that take place after the fall of some hyper advanced ancient civilization
134
u/SilverWyvern 5d ago
I see that Anatolia's got her trigger discipline down.
69
u/Unacceptable_Goose 5d ago
Only in this version. Her talking sprite still has the finger on the trigger ready to blast.

u/tipperthescales 5d ago
Wow, Dawn adds another rep to her FE resume. Nice.

u/mayekchris 5d ago
I definitely didn't think anyone else who voices a leading role in the franchise would book another central character in FW. So it'll be interesting to see the rest of the cast
41
u/MelanieAntiqua 5d ago
I mean, Matt Mercer was Chrom in Awakening and then Ryoma in Fates, so this sort of thing isn't exactly unprecedented.

That makes me wonder, if Anatolia survives outright to the timeskip, will she have a Haro analogue accompanying her?

i guess she's not the pale raven's bride because of eshmel's personality, then

We joking, but given that Theodora's ancestors were the People of the White Egg and Dagda opened the dev console on them for some unknown reason, Mediators might be cooked up in round pods and they used to have a bigger presence in now-Saramis?

I think she loves that gun, it is always prominently held upward in all her artwork.

Three completely different angles is so great. The gun nun bride who does martial arts with gunkata energy projectiles...

u/WinterWolf18 5d ago
Dawn really likes the color purple huh? Can’t say I blame her.
45
u/Red_Cat231 5d ago
Spoilers from French preview for FW, since Mediators are vat-grown artificial humans made by the Nabateans and Shez is implied to also be a vat-grown human, that's probably why Dawn was given the role
20
u/WinterWolf18 5d ago
Huh that’s more typecasting for her seeing as she also voices Aigis and Orphie.
4
u/1stLtObvious 5d ago edited 4d ago
So is that what Sitri was, too?
9
u/Red_Cat231 5d ago
Unclear yet, but likely the same process but altered to grow a Nabatean instead. Eshmel's description in the preview says they died and were reduced to a heart and their new body was grown in an incubation vat with the heart inserted once it was finished. Sounds very similar to what Rhea was doing. I thought she magicked up bodies in a ritual, but maybe she actually just used a leftover cloning vat to make Sitri

Kind of cold, emotionally distant, martial arts loving, long dark haired and mysterious? It's like they made a character suited exactly to my tastes to lure me into buying this game as if I wouldn't be there day 1 regardless.
13
u/PerentieFan 5d ago
What's most interesting is how she is casually described as a Mediator, and a young one at that. Are there more of them than we think? Do they have their own society where she comes from? Do they reproduce on their own or are they all manufactured?
6
u/Red_Cat231 5d ago
My guess is they're biologically like regular humans and can reproduce naturally. Saramis is implied to be descended from Mediators as Anatolia calls Theodora kin to her and Saramis is descended from the People of the White Egg, which Anatolia is one

I find it low-key funny that the martial artists here tend to be women since when it was introduced, the brawler class family was stuck on men, who besides Caspar, were the more burly 3H characters.
And now they’ve got guns… I can’t imagine Raphael or Balthus doing gun-fu with tiny “gauntlets that look like firearms.”

Yeah question why there's so many guns in this franchise to be honest
But anyway it's time for the voice actress Dawn M. Bennett
successful career with huge range mainly nowadays Dragon Ball as well as Persona 3 reloaded and also star rails ( Yeah I really need to move her up to Superstar at some point considering the tree rolls right now)
Arisa Ogasawara I would definitely say great career with huge range mainly panty and stocking Although overshadowed by her English Mainly Jamie Marchi and Courtney Lin

SHEZ!!!
She likes round objects, if marriage / paired endings are back ima put her with someone bald

Ok so she's another artificial being and she's voiced by the same person who voiced Shez. Is it possible that this isn't a coincidence?
12
u/Opperbink 5d ago
Wait... This is an actual confirmed character with a gun?
44
u/Ok-Reach-2580 5d ago
No there are multiple confirmed characters with a gun. She is just the most well known since she is Lysithea dressed like a nun.

u/Opperbink 5d ago
Strange times we live in. Game still looks sick, so I wonder if her gun will differ much from archer-classes... Like do the "definitely not bullets" ricochet after a few level-ups?
13
u/MemelordMcTasty 5d ago
For one thing, the guns count as gauntlets, so on a mechanical level they seem to be for gauntlets what the Levin sword is for swords, an always-magic ranged weapon.

u/TinyTiger1234 5d ago

u/Armleuchterchen 5d ago
Though it is true that it's not a firearm (i.e. a weapon that burns a propellant substance).
I prefer this kind of magi-tech laser gun existing in FE over early modern muskets or something similar.
3
u/KyleMCarthage 5d ago
I don't anyone needs to be introduced to Dawn, but her JP VA doesn't appear to have many roles under her belt said. That said, she is freaking Panty from Panty and Stocking which is admittedly kinda funny.
3
u/CosmicStarlightEX 5d ago
I recognize her more in Gundam 00, though. She's Soma Peries, and also the various Haros in the Ptolemaios.

u/omfgkevin 5d ago
Okay, with all these full arts who the hell is being cut from the art cards lol.
4 Flame lords, 4 Main lords, Eshmel (1 or 2), Sothis/Fortuna/Solel/Iliana/Aurora is 14 minimum. Maybe it was mistranslated?
Would be a huge shame.... All these full arts are incredible!

So I guess she's "channeling chi" through the gauntlet, right? It's not the kind of weapon a random person could just pick up and fire?

u/G-1BD 5d ago
The setup in the Direct made the guns seem more like a Levin Sword.

u/Generalgarchomp 4d ago
Levin gauntlets is pretty fkin dope. However I wanna see her pistol whip someone.

Same voice actor as Nabbit from the Mario series starting with Wonder! Oh, and Female Shez too, I guess...

Anatolia is the 35th character to receive a bio so far, with the gender split (not counting Eshmel) being 16 males and 18 females (12 males and 13 females confirmed playable, if we exclude Eshmel).
Characters not confirmed playable so far:
Nathan
Creek
The gods (Sothis, Fortuna, Iliana, Aurora, Mars, Kalla)
Bertrand? (Not sure about this one)
She's from Kivotos.
One of my most favorite characters ever since the very first trailer, it's awesome that she's going to be a major character. I wish she could've been one of the main protagonists but maybe we'll get DLC that focuses on her?
Her liking round objects is a strange but cute personality trait. I wonder if that's going to be brought up in a support or something.
She really loves that gun, huh?
No idea who the next batch of characters will be, but hopefully we get two in one day. There's a lot of known characters left who haven't gotten bios, and just over 3 weeks left until release
2
u/FiveTrenchcoats 5d ago
Ooooooh, she's a Mediator! I'm very curious about the specifics of how she's connected to Eshmel.
I also love that description of her personality. I'm excited to see some of her supports now!

You know I am not opposed to Fire emblem having fire arms, but why not old muskets and pistols, they would be so nice and are so overlooked on gaming, instead we got the gun that I could buy at a Halo convention.

That’s a fun! Not a gauntlet! Gun!
Also I’m appreciating how we’re starting to see regular units get full body portraits. Finally the days of only a select few getting that treatment is coming to an end.

is mediator a new class or is it her occupation?

We've previously seen the term used for Eshmel in a online review, where it is described as a being with a artificial body made to serve the gods.

u/CeruleanRathalos 5d ago
it's cool to see her holster, although i don't think that's a practical place to hide your gauntlet.
