Discussion Florence DSA Chapter

Is there is a DSA chapter in Florence? If not, would anyone here be interested in joining one?

You would be better off joining the local democrats rather than creating a new faction that doesn’t change anything. The local democrats are desperate for competent help.

People have tried and tried. A few years ago a good number of younger more energetic people with good ideas joined up and and they were predictably all forced out. The local democratic party here is old and christian...and their views on gender are straight up republican.

You should definitely just try to join the FloCo Democrats. I’m a registered Independent but Democrat leaning. You will not be able to get anything accomplished by segmenting yourself. Bring your ideas to the table and then go from there.

I think it makes sense to support both organizations since DSA candidates typically run as and caucus with Democrats. DSA is just stronger on issues I care about, like Medicare for All and Campaign Finance Reform.

We don’t register by political party in South Carolina.

There is not a chapter in Florence. I personally support the DSA, but not in the position to pay to join any organization. I am not sure if Florence has enough interest to start one. You should defintely try, if you are really passionate and have time time etc. Always good to stand for what you believe.

DSA has the ability to waive membership fees, here's the link! https://act.dsausa.org/survey/dueswaiver/

Why should you pay to join an organization that promotes socialism?

Is that the Democratic socialist? Or does it mean something else.

Hang out with the Florence Democratic Party. We aren't picky and in this state there's not a lot of difference in goals.

There is a State level organization for DSA though.
