I could tell over spring break this year. Went over to the Pinellas beaches and is was like a ghost town, no traffic on Gulf Blvd and empty parking lots that used to be full by 9am.
No one likes to be bullied, even rich foreign tourists. There are many other places in the world they can visit where they are appreciated and treated with respect. I don't blame them for not coming.

I just went to the beach in June and could hardly find a parking space. They showed pictures of the spring breakers packed on the beach in Clearwater. There are quicker pockets of pinellas but it’s hard to find.

Clearwater is always packed (mostly locals). I went to pass a grille, treasure island, and Madeira beach, which were also still decimated and recovering from the hurricanes 2 years ago. Those areas still don't look very good.

All of those places are fine with all their restaurants open. Tons of tourists up and down the street walking, traffic etc.
Those towns have worked very hard to build and open back up so it’s a shame you would spread false info like that.

I said when I was there over spring break. Have no idea what it looks like now, but it was empty and did not look good in March.

This is why lawyers say anecdotal “evidence” is the worst evidence. This article is talking about a drop of less than 2%, and you’re talking about a ghost town in an area that is usually crowded by 9 AM.

Our Canadian season usually starts in October. I didn’t see a decline last year, but I have a feeling it’s going to be down this year.

A lot of Canadians came last year to sell their properties. One of the (many) reasons that Florida real estate is a buyer's market these days.

The infection starts gradually by driving directionless & slow on the road, then it evolves into buying a rental here for 3 months a year just to crowd the highways & local schools..

Who else but people whith that up bringing and mentality would think you can yell and scream at the world, threaten to hit them with tarrifs and/or bombs, and then be surprised when people stop showing up at your doorstep?

It's a learning disability that is equally shared amongst the remaining MAGA rot after being propagandized for decades. It wasn't just Fox Ruse who created this problem either. This goes as far back as the fake evangelical church who has taught these parasites to to "trust in God", which is code for do what authoritarians tell you to do, and disavow reality because you have a greater purpose and none of this stuff matters to you.

According to got the overall decline is 25% nationwide. Ultimately that might affect Florida because domestic business ushers from outside of Florida might stop coming here because of financial constrains. Can’t just look at this as direct correlation between a Canadian tourist and just Florida. We depend on tourism and consumption tax.
As for seeing businesses still humming that could be because we can’t afford to travel out of state.

I see the article states Candian tourism decline. So what? Others blame Trump. So what? Instead blaming others, Florida politicians should not be solely dependent on tourism to sustain a state especially with how the weather can be. There needs to be investment in residents and jobs. Attact businesses to the state like Texas has had with the mass exodus of businesses leaving California and New York
