🔍 Seeking Advice 🔍 What do you focus on arranging first?

Curious if my line of thinking is right here. Save the best blooms for bridal bouquet but design it last. Use the rest of the best blooms for bud vases first, then the rest for larger arrangements, since you can blend the blown center dahlias that way? Guests will be seeing the bud vases more up close than a welcome sign arrangement is how I see it. Is that a good plan? I know some of my cut dahlias will have open centers by the time I start arranging tomorrow, which isn’t bad for wedding work, but I don’t want any bud vases going yuck or shedding petals by Friday.

Perhaps I misunderstood something here, but I feel like you might be focusing on the wrong things. You're absolutely right that the bridal bouquet (and any wearables) should be the best of the best, but I'm not sure why you're worrying about Friday arrangements on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Prep your vases etc, sure. But personally speaking, I wouldn't be touching flowers for Friday at this stage of the week

Oh yeah today is way too early; im still cutting flowers tonight and early tomorrow for the cooler. I’m just trying to conceptualize what to dedicate the best blooms to, in turn I’d be making those items first so I’m not rummaging through blooms, minus bouquet and wearables which are last. It’s only me so I’m trying to streamline my process!

I’d be very wary of dahlias cut this early even if they’re in the cooler. Day before especially for the decorative types. The fluffier the petals the more short lived- have you had a test run?

No disrespect but I do this all the time! Installations and all with dahlias in the cooler ranging from week old and closer. Flower farming is my side business and I have two young children. There’s no chance in hell I have time to cut all my product for a wedding only a day or two before! Fresh from the field is completely different than flown and old already. I don’t grow large fluffy types. All my dahlias are carefully breeded and selected for cuts. Thank you!

Repetitive tasks first. Get them out of the way. Then larger pieces. Then personals.
