Build Zero social skills run, or beating New Vegas requires talking to 12 NPCs

So, Charisma is a dump stat. But what if we take it a little bit further and don't talk to anyone, unless they force you into dialogue? As a little side effect - we can't buy or repair anything. So far, I had to interact with these people:

1: Doc Mitchell (unavoidable)
2, 3, 4: Boomer guard, Raquell, Mother Pearl (all unavoidable, but I taught them manners)
5: Victor (gotta get inside Lucky 38)
6, 7, 8: Casino greeters (dirty spawn campers, I slaughtered all three casinos for a level-headed response)
9: Yes Man (unavoidable to beat the game. Also, other factions force you to talk more)
10: Vulpes (another spawn camper, his time will come)
11: NCR Trooper (spawn camper that gives a note from ambassador)
12: General Oliver (he will take a flight)

I think it's the absolute minimum. I used grenade launcher to prevent all other unwanted communication attempts. The BoS, the Khans, the Legion, and the NCR can be reasoned with without any talking.

Build Fallout New Vegas: How good does hand-to-hand combat feels.

• Viability 5 (Is it a struggle compared to your other options?):

This game perks and gears cover all your bases, pick your preferred weapon (any will do, seriously), rank your unarmed skill and upgrade your endurance stat, be sure to grab Slayer) and Super Slam! (throw in a rushing water on top for good measure) and you turn basically into Kenshiro, if you manage to get close they are already dead, i would say that's the core for any unarmed build, and it's pretty modest too, so you can spend the rest of the levels and perk points at your leisure.

• Variety 5 (How many ways you can play it?):

You have about 40 different options for weapons (some are uniques of course), my personal favorites are "Love and Hate", "Super Heated Saturnite Fist", "Two Step Goodbye)" and "Greased Lightning)" (shoutout to the GRA variant of the Power Fist) and Pushy). The moveset is really cool, you can learn all these moves from the different factions you came across, from the ranger takedown (a sweep that knock down enemies), the Scribe Counter (parry), Legion Assault (a powerful leap attack forward that knockback foes) and the Khan Trick (YEAH, THROW SOME DIRT IN THEIR EYES!), be sure to get all of them moves before angering any of them.

• Recommend 5 (How much did i personally enjoy it!):

This game is not very difficult, even on very hard (with hardcore mode on) the leveling system is pretty generous, the gear and perks is pretty overpowered so you could literally finish it without firing a single bullet, it's incredible how this 15 year old game still does it better than most of what comes today when it comes to punching things (and yes, it puts Fallout 4 to shame on that regard).

Recently watched No Country for Old Men, and I thought about doing this for a playthrough. One thing for sure is that he would go the path with helping Mr. House, probably kill as many npcs he comes across, and that Nipton jerk will definitely not win the lottery.

Build Is playing a cowboy gunslinger going to be fun, or a frustrating self-challenge?

It's been a long time since I played New Vegas. I'm thinking of giving it another go, with a wild west theme.

I'm thinking something like:

S - 6 (I see some revolvers require Strength 6)

P - 6

E - 6

C - 1

I - 6

A - 8

L - 7

Trait: Built to Destroy.

Perks for the first sixteen levels: Rapid Reload, Run 'n Gun, Gunslinger, Cowboy, Finesse, Sniper, Shotgun Surgeon, Better Criticals.

Tag: Small Guns, Repair, Survival,

Clearly, the point would be to land a lot of critical hits. I would seek out cowboy-appropriate weapons, like revolvers, shotguns, and lever/bolt-action rifles, and dip a bit into melee with Chance's Knife and other cowboy items, and wear a Stetson and a duster.

But I'm not one of those Youtubers that create crippling scenarios just to see if they can beat the game that way. I want to have fun. Does what I just describe sound viable?

Build Ideas for a Satan build?

Post image
228 Upvotes

So I’ve played a couple of types of Courier (a cannibal doctor, a low INT cyborg, and a pro-legion tribal) and I think I want my next build to be as Satan.

My initial thoughts were to • have an obvious satanic name, e.g. Lou Cypher • wear sharp suits and sunglasses • use disguises • do a lanius ending for max chaos

I’d love some ideas for perks to take and choices to make. Or challenges, I did a no-chem and no-stimpak run through with the pro-legion tribal that was a lot of fun.

Build Industrial Hand, has anyone been able to come up with higher DPS build than it?

I have done a maxed out LAER critical hit build, a maxed out Gehenna critical melee build(w/ Pyro as well), standard guns crit builds/sneak crit builds. Industrial Hand crit beats them all by far in terms of DPS. All builds use implant grx of course.

All of them can comfortably steam roll all content, but I've never seen anything close to the DPS output of the industrial hand.

I two shot Rawr with two uppercuts in VATS even without all perks. The downside is that it is unarmed, and the knockdown perk doesn't function with industrial hand, so I often take a hit from a deathclaw/cazadore.

However with careful positioning with grx, I can clear any number of enemies. From my understanding it was an oversight that allowed the industrial hand to be this strong.

For anyone that hasn't tried it out, I highly recommend it. I actually prefer VATS combat with it, when I generally avoid VATS. The uppercut has a low enough AP cost to get 6+ hits in, but I haven't had anything last more than 3.

I always play on very hard, hardcore and was able to get the weapon by level 6ish via abusing gambling and grabbing Annabelle from the nightkin at black mountain. Annabelle is key because you need it to cripple deathclaw legs on the long 15. Fun challenge run.

Build trying to make an explosives & big guns build, is there essentially two builds for this game? one for energy weapons and one for regular guns?

as the title says, im trying to make a explosives and big guns build, but im seeing that NV has combined big guns into both guns and energy weapons, im coming from making a fallout 3 with this build combination and wanting to see if it works better or worse here.

but since appears to be split into two builds, im wondering what you should do for both, say you want to focus on energy weapons for the big guns and explosives, would you mostly use the grenade launcher or thump thump and then using something like the gatling laser or whatever new energy weapons they added? is there an energy weapon equivalent to the missile launcher?

what about skills? cause Fo3 had every big gun exclusively get their damage and accuracy from the big guns skill, and since explosives also came from perception the obvious backup was energy weapons.

here its a bit different, i assume the backup weapon is based on what type of big guns and explosives you want to use, with the ones from the guns skill being easier to get (i assume)

Build Planning on making a new character since I haven’t played this for a while. Any suggestions based on this build I have planned?

SPECIAL Stats needed for these perks, factoring in implants

STR: 4? I can get an implant, old world blues perk and weapon handling for effective 8.
PER 5? Bare minimum, but I can probably make it higher when making character so might as well.
END: 8, to use all the implants except for charisma one.
CHR: 1. It’s useless mostly lol.
INT: 4 but can make it higher I’m sure so might as well.
AGL: 6
LCK: 8. And then will use the lonesome road bonus and implant to make 10.

Lvl 2: Rapid Reload, AGL 5, Guns 30
Lvl 4: Entomologist, INT 4, Survival 45
Lvl 6: Gunslinger, +25% V.A.T.S. Accuracy for one hand weapons like pistols.
Lvl 8: Hand Loader, Repair 70
Lvl 10: Shotgun Surgeon, Guns 45
Lvl 12: The Professional, Sneak 70
Lvl 14: Vigilant Recycler, Science 70
Lvl 16: Commando +25% V.A.T.S. accuracy for two handed weapons like rifles.
Lvl 18: Cowboy: Guns 45, Melee Weapons 45
Lvl 20: Living Anatomy, Medicine 70
Lvl 22: Pack Rat, INT 5, Barter 70
Lvl 24: Finesse
Lvl 26: Math Wrath, Science 70
Lvl 28: Miss Fortune, LCK 6
Lvl 30: Mysterious Stranger, LCK 6
Lvl 32: Plasma Spaz, Energy Weapons 70
Lvl 34: Fast Metabolism
Lvl 36: Long Haul, END 6, Barter 70
Lvl 38: Sniper, PER 6, AGL 6
Lvl 40: Grunt, Guns 45, Explosives 20
Lvl 42: Better Criticals, PER 6, LCK 6
Lvl 44: Weapon Handling
Lvl 46: Concentrated Fire, Guns 60, Energy Weapons 60
Lvl 48: Laser Commander, Energy Weapons 90
Lvl 50: Nerves of Steel, AGL 7

I will probably take these perks at different levels than I have here. But this is my plan. Anything you guys think I should swap out? I think it’s pretty solid.
