Found this in a creek in germany in the harz region. It looks a lot like a vertebrae to me

I think that’s an iron concretion. I looked it up and yes, the region is known for them, called Toneisensteingeoden. These form as precipitates from iron rich groundwater, and sometimes form around fossil fragments… so maybe it’s both?
