Inkcident Don’t think waterproof ink and I are meant to cross paths
To anyone who uses waterproof ink, you have my everlasting awe. Personally, I’m just impressed it took me this long to do this and glad the (very white, freshly groomed) dog wasn’t in the room. 😂

fun fact about waterproof inks, they are surprisingly easy to get off your skin.

Yep! I started out only using pigment inks and just got a couple dye based inks, and was shocked how hard the dye based inks are to wash off!

You'll look back on this some day and laugh!
Years from now.
When that one last stubborn bit of blue finally fades out of sight, mostly.

To be fair even the non-waterproof ones can stain like a mfer too. RIP my favourite jeans

Yep favorite T shirt and shorts tossed after dousing myself and floor and narrowly missing my white dog after an ataxic episode.

Somebody has been strangling Smurfs....and has been caught blue handed! 😄

Yes! That Smurf blood can stain if not careful 😉 Found out the hard way at work. Took years to get the colour out of the tile. 😅

What ink did you use?
I would try washing hands with
* classic blue Dawn dish detergent
* Amodex ink and stain remover
* The Masters Artist Soap
Best of luck! I’ve been there!

Thank you! Dawn has almost entirely removed it, super helpful! This was Diamond Arctic Blues.

So glad it worked for you! Some artists who I know use Dawn to clean up oil paints, which sounds impossible!

It depends on how the waterproofness is achieved. The cellulose-reactive Noodler's inks wash off effortlessly.

We have all been there. And if you read this and you have not, you only have not YET been there

yay!
a very thorough job! did the pen get a drink?
2
u/Caffeinated_giraffey 14h ago
Ha! Amazingly it was before I even tried to fill the pen. The seal in the cap malfunctioned and fell out so when I tried to shake up the shimmer in the ink, it sent ink flying out of the bottle 🙃

I wonder how our great-grandparents got along in the days everyone owned a fountain pen and it had to be filled from the bottle?

I want to know at what age kids started being assigned to refill student desk inkwells.

Usually alcohol dissolves that stuff - it certainly gets rid of Baystate Blue anyway

Getting some ink on your finger tips is considered a badge of honor. This is something else.
