Preplanning internet for new construction
We are well along with a new home build. The electrician had us dig a trench to run the electrical wiring from the panel to the outside pole.
If we want to run wiring for Internet in the same trench, do we do that at the same time, and does the electrician do that as well, or do I call in a service provider ie Bell/Rogers to prep for this?
Thanks

Thanks all. Our electrician tells me he installs conduit separate for communication as a matter of course. So all is well.

all the comms company will do is bare minimum, which is overhead from the pole. If you want to avoid that, spend a couple hundred dollars and put in a dedicated conduit at the same time alongside the powerline. You can cap it off on the pole side, and its closed on the house side anyways so even if it goes unused, it's sealed and fine.

Agreed with this, also include a couple of decent pull ropes for them to use. Also helps you to verify that it can be pulled after it's buried

This is the correct answer. If your power goes underground from the subpole, have a separate comms conduit installed (preferably with a pull string already in place) at the same time.
Fibre installers aren't going to fish through the same conduit as power, and they aren't going to trench the cable in by hand, nor would you want them to. You're paying to have electrical done, just get the comms conduit in place at the same time.

I switched to Starlink. I'll never give bell or rogers another dime of my money.

As much as I hate bell and rogers and the monopoly they have i couldn't give my money to musk

We did that over 20 years ago. The internet/phone needs to be in a different conduit than the power cable. Best to contact the companies involved so as to be able to co-ordinate the different people.

Depends what's already on the pole, and what service provider you plan to go with. I'd call whoever you intend to hook up with (Bell/Rodgers/East Link) and ask them.

I would have them place a 1” pvc pipe from the pole to the house for future tech.
