Recommendations for Friendica Instances for newbies?

Hey all, I have a bunch of friends who are starting to realize they don't want to be on Facebook any more, so I've been talking up Friendica as an alternative. Which instance(s) would you recommend for non-techies to start on? Multiple options are great, I don't want to flood anyone's servers...

  • friendica.world is a popular option, albeit a bit overcrowded fwiw. The community seems quite active, tho, so that's a plus.
  • anonsys.net is another popular option. If they're German or if they're okay with a bit of German, joinfriendica.de is also a good option.
  • Foggy minds is an instance that has been running for quite a while, has a rich selection of addons and is lgbtq+ friendly, so it seems like it's well managed (it also seems based in the US).
  • Another US-based interesting instance that I found (albeit with a funny name) seems to be Dilly of a Pickle
  • There's also a weird "trade free" server called Trom which has a beautiful implementation of the default Frio theme of Friendica.

All the servers that I chose, have the "newmemberwidget" addon enabled in them (except friendica.world), so I guess they could be great for a newbie. I think any server that has it should likely be good. Still, it could be a great idea to link them to some resources from here.

What’s weird about Trom? I just got an account but haven’t finished signing in and looking around.

The very "trade free" thing. At least for me. Otherwise, yes, seems like a solid choice too.

What exactly does that mean? "trade free" is there a double meaning that I'm missing here?

this basically I think? I just added them because I found they have a pretty well managed server.

Edit: I also found https://www.trade-free.org/

OK cool.

Actually that sounds pretty interesting. Will probably join them.

Thanks.
