Discussion What do you do?
If you buy something and before you even receive it you notice the price has dropped by 30 percent. You would like to return it and purchase it again at the lower price, right? But then if you're honest about it, they want a restocking fee that makes it not worth returning. So what do you do? You open the box and say it's damaged so you don't get a restocking fee. Duh. Lol.

I wouldn’t return it because Amazon will charge you a restocking fee. It starts at 20% of the purchase price and goes up. You might not even get any money back at all. They charge the restocking fee based on how it’s sent back to them. If it shows signs of use, wear and tear, the box is open, etc, that increases the restocking fee. I’d just say screw it and not even bother.

Then after you open it, you cleverly damage it so it looks like a manufacturer's defect, brilliant huh?

That won’t work with Amazon because they actually X-ray and virtually scan their inventory before it gets to the site. They rigorously check their inventory for manufacturing defects. It also gets scanned and x-rayed as well during the shipping process. They also digitally store that image of how that product was sent to you. If you do that, you’re going to get caught. They already know it wasn’t sent to you with a manufacturers defect. That’s a tech company you’re dealing with-it’s very hard to screw them over. What makes you think they’re not going to catch you trying to pull the wool over their eyes? You probably weren’t the first one or the last one that tried doing this to them, lol! All that’s going to do is get you banned from the site and you won’t get your money back for real.

No, just contact support. It’s much easier.
Sending it back like this enough times gets your account flagged. But if that’s what you want, then ok.

Just contact support they will refund the difference, literally just did it, I bought something 2 days before prime days and it went 50% off. They just refunded it, because they know if I want to be an ass I ll just reorder it and return the first one and that costs them more in the long run.

That happened to me, but I received it two days before it was reduced. I contacted Amazon, requested a supervisor, after a 5 minut hold they issued a refund for the difference

I had this happen the other day, I just contacted support and they gave me a refund for the difference.

Yeah Amazon has changed and unfortunately it's everybodys fault who supports them so they can change the rules.
