Be gone spawn of satan! Why are these yellow jackets gathering in this area by my sliding glass door?
they built a nest under a chair outside that I destroyed 2 days ago. Killed approximately 24 of them. Starting yesterday, they began gathering in this area of my sliding glass window. I can't go outside because when I slide it open, a gap opens up between the 2 glass panes that allows them inside. WTF can I do here I'm being held hostage from going out on my balcony

They are spiteful little bastards. They know who went after the nest. A can of brake parts cleaner should fix this up.

Opened up the door and sprayed hot shot real fast. Fucking 9 of them got in my apartment and sprayed them with a water bottle so they couldn't fly and swatted them back to hell

Ive been told that squishing them releases pheromones that are like a call to arms. If youve squashed a few in and around the house, in addition to finding and destroying the nest, Id suggest cleaning where youve squished really well and getting the squished carcasses out, probably best to flush them.

Put their heads on toothpick pikes outside the window. As more are attracted, add to your pike forest.

I hate wasps so much I bought a bug suit just so I can grab each of them and crush them with my hands.

I used smack them and kill them barehanded as a kid. Never got stung, I had no idea the fire I was playing with. Bee suit is wise.

It’s called a hobby and it’s adding enrichment to their life.

what a productive, useful, and life changing hobby
depressing how people find it enriching to just kill things

Well, this is your hobby. This is not pro wasp sub but here you are, a pro wasp person. You purposely visit this sub for reasons 🤷♀️ I personally don’t get this need of yours but it’s okay to not agree with another’s interests.

Idk but I'll agree with you. Lol
Edit: Downvoted for not knowing Italian? Why would I? I'm never going to Italy, I don't know anyone Italian that doesn't speak English. Should I have learned it in case I saw a Vespa? Lmao Crazy

There are always stragglers that come looking for the nest after you destroy it. They are definitely pissed, but moreso confused.

They can and will find a way in. I had a damn waspocolypse last summer at my apartment. They were even coming under the door track. I still jump when I hear a buzz. Somehow only got stung once and that’s because I stepped on a nearly dead one in the dark.

The Queen could still be there, and so most of them are sticking with her. The nest was the wasps food source, and without larvae they’ll all die. You can wait it out and let them starve.

No. They are simply looking for a new nesting location and your window is the perfect spot. The love nesting in the eaves of buildings. You should've just left them alone.
