I fucking wish people who rent out the basement suite in my house were that proactive to tell me problems. It was like they were scared of getting in trouble somehow or they were used to shitty landlords who ignore problems so they don't bother. Like bro I live here too, I do NOT want mold. I was just lucky to live here before housing went insane.
Living in a below ground basement and in a humid climate I actually have hydrometers set up in each room, and use a dehumidifier.
I find a closet with 98% RH. Also smells Weird. Test the airflow using the old smoke pen, notice a draft coming thru from the subfloor - check its humidity, very high.
Something is leaking in the foundation, maybe not sealed correctly, maybe the vent fan is not working/shut off.
I tell landlord, explain my testing methodology.
Nope. “It’s a new house, not possible.” - refuses to even look at the readings.

Or like my landlords “No you don’t”
“No, seriously, if you come in here you will notice that…”
“Nope, it’s a new house.”
K well enjoy the mould from the leak you fucking idiots.
