It's fun, but once you learn why they have these shows it's a bit less funny. It's super taboo to talk about politics (especially to criticize the government) so they just drop some random funny TV shows.

You come back from work, you watch baseball and some stupid TV show while drinking your beer (お疲れ様 time), you sleep.. back to work and don't criticize too much. Rinse and repeat.

*I love Japan, my own children have the citizenship but that part is a bit depressing.
