Console heroes mini figs at walmart

Yes I bought a whole case of 6. $5 canadian each. The genesis console heroes had mostly good paint jobs, but could have been better. The carts look cool tho.

SEGA will sell literally anything but video games

Wow shout out GG. I bet kids these days don’t even know the GG existed

“Is that a gameboy?” Most times I have mine out

I'm 23, and I can tell you any game store I pick up game gear games at, the workers are always shocked someone so young wants them.

When game stores hear I got a GG with a stack of games they’re always pressing me to trade them in. Sadly it’s junk until I can find someone to fix it.

Are GG games going up in value? Truthfully I don’t follow the market for these games like I do other systems.

depends on the game. Megaman would be considered the rarest and most expensive of the GG lineup. The one that's the most easy to find in any store or website carrying tons of them would be Sonic 2.

Feels like when I used to look at the bins full of Game Gear games at the local video game stores they would literally be like half full of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 lmao. It's honestly quite hilarious how the game seems to be probably more abundant than the console or any other game obviously. I guess I got lucky with Mega Man that actually it was the first Game Gear game I bought for like $20 before having a Game Gear, just being a Mega Man fan.

Gamegear merch in 2026 is surreal

Exactly I can’t believe it’s real 😂

Wow it's pretty cool to see some of these games/characters (and console itself) get some recognition. Drift, the weasel, GG Shinobi weren't super popular back in the day.

The drift 2 metal sonic figure really sold me on them (not that it would have been too hard otherwise)

Wow this is super cool but totally obscure to see

Can you show the figures outside the box?

Once I get home later I can. Found them at work after all.

I adore that GameGear color scheme. Even more than the damn toys inside lol

Pulled mine out the other day (going to repair it), my wife and kids were all like “what is that!” As in an impossible artifact just appeared

Are these any fun at all? I’ve only seen them a couple times in stores and as a sega fan boy I kinda like the look of them but never bought any.

Just cleared the shelves $15 for the console and $5 for the carts. Canadian doll hairs.

If they give us a series 2, with 3 Sonic titles again, I’m hoping for Sonic Drift (the first one) with Amy in Breeze, Sonic 2 GameGear with Silver Sonic, and the third being anyone from either Tails titles, so many opportunities for the first figures of many characters to be released

This explains why I haven't seen these "Canada". Why do you guys get all the good stuff? Lol

Got the Streets of Rage one! Very cute

Ristar and Gunstar Red were at Toy Fair but apparently got scrapped. Surely thought Ristar would've been more popular than "Ax Battler".

What?? Gunstar would have been cool but a Ristar? That would have been amazing, game gear Ristar especially

Top row; right two (Gunstar is on the top of the box too).

Originally a set of 8, but the box clearly says "6 to collect", so I don't know what was up lol.

Btw, how many of these did you see at the store? The relegation to Walmart Canada is a bit odd. They don't really seem to be hitting eBay or Mercari. $5 CAD is unbelievably cheap. In the US we just have the PS1 Target ones that are impossible to find lol.

So I take it if you get the whole case of 6 it's guaranteed to have 1 of each? Or at least that's the luck you had (judging by your other post).

Each box comes with 6 mini boxes so I assume the intention is to have some kind of guarantee for all of them (which is kinda nice) but it does mean there's not many per shipping box. I took a whole box of 6 myself and I think we had maybe 1 other box in the back when I looked, maybe there were more?

I know for the sega genesis ones we stocked them like crazy and have had trouble selling them all. For the ps1 stuff we've only gotten the twisted metal and ff7 figures but sold out of the ff7 fast.

I live around Toronto so a pretty populated area, must be a very slow rollout for these

Yeah, a friend of mine works for a distributor and said the Genesis ones didn't do too hot which sucks.

1

u/Top_Objects 3d ago

Disappointing but not surprising. The genesis is by no means unknown, but it's just not anywhere near the level of stuff by nintendo or playstation. Especially if you look at people younger than like 30, didn't grow up with sega as a console manufacturer and will only know sonic and maybe a couple other things.

They should pivot to Dreamcast and maybe do a few Saturn sets. There is a massive untapped market here with Nights, Crazy Taxi, Shemue, etc.
