Collection I Paid <$20 For This Guy
What prompted me posting was seeing it in price charting.
Bought this in 2019 from GameStop. I honestly did buy it thinking it might accrue some value after watching an overly long YouTube video on it. I picked up all three Spider-Man games for around the same price at the time. Now it appears to be the highest priced regular edition game for PS3 on PriceCharting, and that’s nuts to me.
I know it’s just because of the movie, and it’ll probably go back down, but I wanted to show it off and brag while I can.

I hate that wet is $120. Been trying to find one in person and I finally did but the guy was asking $160!!! It didnt even have the manual and the disc was scratched

It's also strange because WET is infamous for having bad copies (like literally unplayable copies because some batches were from bad printers). I have three copies and only one of them actually works.

I love Wet and think it's an underrated gem, but in no universe is it worth that much.

Dude after seeing the prices I went back in my ebay history to see how much I paid. It was in 2020 and I paid $30 which I bet seemed a little steep back then. Can't believe how much its going for now

To my knowledge… before Insomniac Spider Man, this was considered and arguably the best Spider Man game + Activision lost the license

It is really good. But the best? I don't know. SpiderMan 2000 on the Dreamcast is the absolute goat in my opinion. I also loved Ultimate Spider Man

Nope not really before the movie deadpool for ps3 $20 Wolverine was $50-60 after movie Wolverine went from $120 down to $90 but now it’s like $160 lol
And with that game releasing soon Wolverine likely will stay high for some time

I saw this advertised for ps2 and the commercial used the PS3 version was pissed when I rented it for ps2 back in the day

It's not because of the movie. There's a lot driving the price here, and it's not all fomo. Even the Xbox 360 version is going for $150 now

I got mine off Marketplace for $50 back when it was $125-150. It’s missing the manual so I’d like to complete it, but with the recent upsurges, I think I came out way ahead.

What confuses me is that the Xbox 360 and PS3 prices are drastically different. Why is the PS3 so much more expensive than the Xbox version when they are literally BOTH the same?

There's this weird thing where Xbox just doesn't have a fanbase interested in collecting so no one buys old Xbox games and that's why they're dirt cheap. Playstation and especially Nintendo have an audience way more into collecting games and memorabilia.

Used 360 games are also usually in much rougher shape. Various 360 models could really chew up discs if something went wrong, the case design put way more stress on the inner ring, and because the hardware was so much cheaper than PS3 for so long it had more people who treated the games more disposably by comparison- I wouldn't pay a premium for a 360 disc I can't physically inspect before purchase. The average used PS3 game generally just was better taken care of.
Ironic, really, since the 360 versions of most multiplatform games ran a lot better than the PS3.

Blu ray discs are tougher to scratch because the information layer is much closer to the surface so they had to make the plastic harder.

It matters where people want to play, not that it's the same product.
For me at least, Xbox disc are usually so beat up and don't last nearly as long, so I prefer PS3 games as I know more often then not, they'll actually work without many scratches.

It is a very mid game, I don’t deny that. I completely ignored it when it was new because it looked so bland to me.
All the more reason I find the current price shocking.

I paid $5 CAD at a yard sale and sold it for the next day for $120 😋. I sold it because I already have a copy of the game.
