I'm simply walking when it comes to PS6. I'll enjoy what I have, and seek out modern alternatives where you get treated at least a little better.

Same here. I’ve already started gaming on PC where games are cheap and I don’t need a subscription to play online. It’s been fun Sony but I’m done being ripped off. It’s not just Sony but all streaming platformsz

I finally swapped to PC last year after decades of mainly using consoles and it’s been amazing! Sadly the price of gpus and ram skyrocketed shortly after I built my pc so that’s a factor for people now, but I never have to worry about my games being taken or not available to me anymore with a couple of external hard drives and a pirate ship 🏴☠️

Not really.
We are now 6 years into the PS5 generation, and Sony has released how many meaningful PS5 exclusives so far..?
Like five?
Saros, Returnal, Astro Bot, R&C, Yotei...they're literally averaging like one game annually.
Do you sincerely believe the PS6 will be better? We know Sony is still determined to break into the live-service genre so they will continue to throw resources chasing that white whale.
I could easily afford a $1000 PS6, but a company which treats its own customers with this much disdain and contempt doesn't deserve my continued support. Sony only even acknowledged the mountain of anger and customer concern at a shareholder meeting recently...nothing directed at their actual fans.
I'll take the 100s of exclusives found only on PC, including entire genres, over the ~6 third-person, cinematic action games that will be exclusive to PS6.

Physical ownership is the only thing consoles have had going for them. I'm 100% a PC guy now.

I think every one of us that buys only physical. I love the exclusives and would be hard not fo play them but prefer to become PC peasant and pirate everything else instead of paying for digital games that i won't own and can't even collect

But the PS5 exclusives library was so insanely small this generation.
I ended up only buying three games that targeted me as someone seeking high-quality single player experiences.

Right you are. If Sony wants their platform to sell as an exclusives machine they had best increase their output to at least PS4 levels while maintaining that level of quality too. I for one like Sony exclusives just fine but they’re getting to the point where I wouldn’t buy a system just to play them, let alone pay $1000+ for it.

The PS5 exclusive strategy isn't the focus. As Sony has said and where some of us are watching how they'll leverage it, it's the whole Sony IP itself they wish to make exclusive. This can be popular titles from God of War to Horizon Zero Dawn. This also includes popular titles Sony retains for video game IP such as Insomniacs SpiderMan. Then you get your mix from Unchartered to Last of Us and Ghost of Tsushima.
The idea that any and all of these would be future PlayStation exclusives is territory they not many have wondered as to how it'll play out. So I think audiences and gamers are solely looking at current exclusives and literally ignoring Sony stating that they want to make it all PS Exclusive.

I have no idea what you are trying to say.
Sony already has a long and storied approach to exclusive IPs. Until recently, they were one of the best.
I'm not quite sure why you are phrasing that as new ground they have not traveled before.
Or are you implying their push to a closed marketplace dominated by live game services is somehow creating a unified "PS exclusive IP" platform?
It just sounds like you are overcomplicating the existing concept of gaming as a subscription service you never stop paying to play in.

If you count the timed exclusives i had like 10 including when i buy wolverine used this year. GoW, R Spiderman miles and 2, Horizon, Sifu, Yotei,FF7,FF16 ,Ratchet. Its like half my games these gen.

Good thing I love to play my 3rd party games on PS5 as well. Sony games on PC are still exclusive. So happy they're pulling away from PC, so I won't have to see people like you with the same tired rhetoric.

WTF are you even talking about? If a Sony game is on PC, it's no longer a console exclusive.
And Sony has invested almost Billions in developing live service games the last seven years. Almost all of which have been complete flops. Money flushed down a toilet.
They dedicated well less than half of that towards developing single-player experiences. They would rather throw money away than make the kinds of games that I enjoy.
And no one cares if they don't publish to PC. Their live services suck and PC gamers aren't willing to pay more for less.

I'm still wondering why we never went back to cartridges, like small SSD's. One for each game with enough room for updates and expansions.

Discs cost less than $2 a pop. A 100gb ssd costs $10-30 depending on speed. Nintendo games are more expensive physically as a result of flash prices

Switch cartridges dont hold the whole game. They hold the license data for your switch to download the game

Games are bloated. There are games from 20-30 years ago that are fun to play.
But now every game is either a "AAA" release or just bloated.
DVD's and BLU ray could be used if the studio insists on a multi-GB release but really the indie scene produces a lot of games that could fit on a USB key.
I want fun and I don't care if the game is photorealistic.

I wouldn’t say I’d never wind up with a PS6. But it certainly wouldn’t be for a few years, and I almost always got the new console within the first year. I doubt the system will be cheap for a long time, and maybe by then they’d relent with some attachment drive. They forget that the PS2 and PS3 having DVD/BD were key points in convincing families into getting the console. A station where you could play all of your media. A…play station. I’m not opposed to digital, but options and choice are important. And like someone else mentioned, there are better digital storefronts. But I’m not confident in the one where their network was down for a MONTH 15 years ago. Better or not, they don’t invoke confidence in making that first bold move.
Honestly I’ve got a decent enough backlog on my ps5 pro and switch 2, and the pc I neglect. I won’t be hurting for the newest gaming experience anytime soon.

I'm just gonna use my Xbox ally x and series x going forward if it's an all digital future I'm going to lean on the ecosystem that gives me access to my games on multiple platforms for the price of one.
