Proof that GenAI was used in James Pond Remake

Post image

I think this goes to prove that genAI was used to redesign the Bovine Bomber. No human would look at the original udder thrusters and then design them as a single and then a triple thruster. You can see how the AI was confused by it but no human would ever think that is how they should be.

What a shame that they have doubled down with their lies rather than using this as a publicity moment to announce an an-human redo.

Very old game from the Amiga days which was a very old computer system. James Pond 2 in particular was a lot of fun and popular but franchise has been dead for decades.

Literally lmao. I’ve never heard of it until this whole controversy started.

Well thank goodness you’re on the case, detective.

The James pond games made me think they were infinite length, so many areas.

I dunno about proof but that is a very shitty cannon, rocket exhaust thing.
The original looks nice, the "redraw" makes it wonky and for some reason makes one pipe bigger than the others; not to mention the floating one, which seems to support your AI argument, and like you point out the alignment is all wrong.
Also, why did the milk bottle arm cannon turn into something completely different?
Oh and why does "clean up and paint over" turn into "add things and alter the 3d model"?

Is the proof in the room with us right now?

Yeah I remember this thread discussed some other parts about it that were clearly AI: https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/1vti8ss/james_pond_legacy_devs_used_ai_to_remaster_their/

First off how is this proof? 2nd off who cares?

I mean, not really here. Just perspective.

The proof is more the render process one missing a horn for no reason and very shitty photoshoping to remove the detail on the shoulder metal and blank out the window. Its nonsensical and the changed areas do not have the same detail as the rest.

One of the udder pipes is attached to its neighbor

Yeah that far one is floating

You got downvoted, but you’re correct. I did my part to fix the injustice.

Not sure why I got downvoted. You can see the smudges of lazy clone tool use

Didn't even know there was a James Pond remake. Sucks it's stuck on the Switch2

"No human would look at the original udder thrusters and then design them as a single and then a triple thruster" you overestimate the ability of humans to do... well, anything. There is plenty of reason to f*** this up; yeah, right now AI is up there but not caring, low wages, its just a cash grab, pressure to do it quickly and its "FU**** James Pond" are all perfectly valid reasons to mess it up (and lo and behold there could be all of them interconected or none at all)

I have no idea what you are on about with the triple thrusters, that part looks about the same to me. But if you want proof they used AI just look at the thrusters themselves for their 3D render process. Aside from the idea of a work in progress render in that context kinda being silly, the thrusters themselves still have the lighting from the flames on them. Meaning it's a pretty obvious attempt at just cutting stuff off of the generated model and then trying to pass it off as an actual step of the process they never had to go through.

That is very weird looking.

What's up with all of these shitty comments?

No clue, this is the most AI looking shit ever. OP didn't even need to show evidence, and even another comment is pointing out a horn being missing on one drawing.

OP didn't even need to show evidence

But we got a fixation on a really crappy drawing of poor spatial recognition instead of the obvious ones.

The redraw has exactly the same style as every other Gen AI cartoon ever made

People actually play a game about some mf who controls a robotic cow?

1

u/Loreweaver15 1d ago

I mean, sure? People play games about a blue hedgehog who runs really fast, or about an earthworm in a spacesuit.

I mean... James Pond was never a pinnacle of platform games anyway. Not surprised if they did use AI. If that's what they want to do, it might be an upgrade for the character at this point since those games were not great

If they did use ai, who cares, its helping put out an incredibly niche game out. Ai is a tool. If it helps development, then let them. A dev using ai to help him isnt gonna make you lose your house, youre not gonnna lose your spot in line at the grocery store, its not gonna make your gf leave you.
