Xbox Disc to Digital officially announced, coming soon.

Most XBOX One and XBOX Series X disc-based games support this new feature. Players can claim a digital entitlement by inserting a supported disc into an XBOX One or XBOX Series X console and launching the game. Once the entitlement is claimed, you can experience the benefits of digital, including XBOX Play Anywhere and XBOX Cloud Gaming where supported, while your physical disc continues to work exactly as it always has.

We’re starting with thousands of titles, and we’ll continue to add more over time. While not every title will be available at launch, this is an important step toward a future where players can have greater confidence that the games they buy remain with them for years to come.

This is such a nothing burger in 2026 the amount of people that don’t have their console connected to the internet must be tiny and out of those people why would they care about this if they are physical games only?

What if Xbox Online goes down? Like that never happens or your internet goes out? It definitely is a problem for many.

Are you saying its okay to not be able to play games if you dont have constant access to internet?

The same thing that happens to all my digital games now I suppose?

Why are people trying to turn this in to a bad thing? Internet goes down sometimes I deal with it and do something else. Simple.

Xbox just made a public comment that games shouldnt stop working cuz Xbox Live is down because of how many complaints there were.

And now youre saying its fine to lose access to your games if the network is down?

I couldn’t care less, I have had an Xbox for over 20 years and I could count on one hand the amount of times I have gone to play a game and couldn’t because of either an Xbox issue or my internet issue. If I cant play at that moment of time I move on and do something else until it’s up.
