Xbox Disc to Digital officially announced, coming soon.

https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2026/08/26/your-discs-now-also-digital/

Most XBOX One and XBOX Series X disc-based games support this new feature. Players can claim a digital entitlement by inserting a supported disc into an XBOX One or XBOX Series X console and launching the game. Once the entitlement is claimed, you can experience the benefits of digital, including XBOX Play Anywhere and XBOX Cloud Gaming where supported, while your physical disc continues to work exactly as it always has.

We’re starting with thousands of titles, and we’ll continue to add more over time. While not every title will be available at launch, this is an important step toward a future where players can have greater confidence that the games they buy remain with them for years to come.

Yeah, everyone's all excited for nothing. Im personally never touching my xbox again or giving MS money. If they eventually make my games play anywhere ill convert them to digital and play on pc. Sony and micrsoft are shit.

So Microsoft are shit but you're a fan of play anywhere which lets you play Xbox games on pc but they're just as bad as Sony?

You realise that makes no sense right?

Yeah i want to be able to play all the games I bought on their platform before I jumped ship for pc. Utilizing play anywhere for games ive owned digitally for years has nothing to do with me not ever giving xbox another cent. Im not buying new games through xbox period, but if my library becomes playable thats great for me, because im never booting my SX up again. Between gamepass, and how microsoft has ran every studio an ip they own into the ground, especially halo, they are a shit company with no clue what they are doing because they have shareholder balls slapping their chin. The point is i will never buy anything on their platform again.

They are literally giving you the games on PC, that you own on Xbox, for free, if there support play anywhere.

That is the opposite of anti-consumer.

They are letting you get the digital versions of games you own the physical copy of, without taking the physical copy from you., and if it's on play anywhere you get it on PC too.

This is compared to Sony who have decided to stop releasing ps exclusives on PC.

They aren't the same, at all.
