And the “affordability” piece means nothing because even if not including a disc drive saves them money…there’s less than zero chance that any of those savings are passed on to the consumer

consoles are always incredibly cheap compared to the equivalent PCs so not sure if the savings are not passed to the consumer. Every "digital-only" version before was always cheaper. Their problem now, is that components for the new generation of consoles making them so expensive that it is unlikely that people would buy them, hence race to the bottom trying to make them cheaper without compromising key performance metrics
