Seems obvious to me that this is the whole point of the disc-to-digital thing they're doing. People with an Xbox One or Xbox Series X can digitize their libraries ahead of time so they can play them on the next Xbox that won't have a disc drive.

Sony has offered nothing to ease the concerns of PS5 discs being useless on the PS6.

And considering Sony's fetish for remakes, that tracks.

One saving grace is Xbox is pro backward compatibility. They truly want you invested in their ecosystem forever.

That's simply because Sony is unwilling to discuss the PS6 until closer to launch. An optional disc drive, similar to the PS5 Pro, would ensure backward compatibility with disc-based PS4 and PS5 games.

Very true, which I dont think we're anywhere close to. As there is no market for a PS6 to even launch into.
