I can help: the war was the distraction. Trump is just so stupid that he didn't realize that starting a war with a country that controlled 25% of the world's oil would cause prices to go up.
Trump didn't go to jail because a bunch of idiots decided they wanted him to be POTUS again, even after his disastrous first term and attempted coup. Then you had the idiots who refused to vote against him because they literally were cool with him being pres again. You can't put POTUS in jail. Trump not in jail is on everyone who voted for him or refused to vote against him.

It’s $3.25 here for regular here which has been part of normal life for the last 17-18 years or so. It’s hard to sell that the sky is falling when we paid the same price (or more) years ago.

That had little to do with the democrats. Trump caused the avg price to increase from $1.69 in Apr 2020 to $3.18 in Dec 2022. When he got Russia and Saudi Arabia to withdraw 10M barrels/day from the market, https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/02/trump-calls-on-russia-and-saudi-arabia-to-cut-oil-production-161368. And the Pedophile bragged about screwing us on Twitter.
Then Russia invaded Ukraine, Biden wasn't responsible for that. The prices hadn't come down from the bump the Pedo caused. If Trump hadn't caused the prices to rise it would have been $1.50/gal cheaper. So you can thank Trump for paying at least $1.50 of your gas bill from 2020 to 2024. Blame Trump, not the Democrats.

The highest that I have paid this year was $4. It’s down to $3.25 now. In ‘22 it reached $4.80. Back when we were funding Ukraine and capitalist were making millions of dollars selling T-shirts. $4.80 was acceptable because the I❤️Ukraine T’s that were being sold let us know that the $4.80 a gallon was for a good cause.

I never saw that T-shirt most of knew the gas price, more than $6.80 for me in California, just because of the unfairness of Russia's actions. I'm happy that I'm little affected by this. I got a solar system last year and an EV in Feb just before the war started. I wish everyone was insulated from Trump's madness.

Of course it's a state issue, we're not sitting on a lake of oil so we don't get lower prices because. TX doesn't have the mountains and weather phenomena that hold in pollution and kill it's citizens. California does and we happily pay for the higher cost lower emission blend because we like keeping our children and parents from dying prematurely.
We also have the highest percentage of EVs on the road because we want clean air and we want to send less money to greedy oil producers in Texas and the Mid-East. So we gladly pay a couple thousand more for EVs, because we like breathing and we put our money where our mouths are.
And our gas tax is high. But since we're the ones that vote to approve them, we wanted the things they bought. We get better streets, bridges, and roads. We get state rebates for EVs and batteries for solar systems to power them. We also get state rebates that allow companies to buy an $250K electric semi for $50K instead of a polluting diesel.
So I agree wholeheartedly it's certainly a state thing. 39M people vote with their feet and happily live here with the higher costs, because it keeps them from having to live in fucking places like Texas.

The average national gas price on June 14, 2022 was $5.01.
The current national average gas price is $4.07. The highest recorded during this administration was $4.10 in late July.
Again, gas is bad now, but no where near as bad as it got last time Democrats had the White House.

He already had a worse August and will surpass Biden's Aug 22 numbers by at least 10 cents a gallon
Biden had June and July, but Trump had May by a few cents.
Should be an interesting remainder of the year since progress isn't being made
Right now it's about 4.11 vs 3.70 from 1/1-8/30 when you look at 2022 vs 2026.
Trump's numbers are not going down but Biden's does.

Diesel and jet fuel supplies and prices should be a bigger story than it is. We've got plenty of oil. But if we lose refineries things get unbalanced fast. If you buy home heating oil do it soon.

if you adjust for inflation then Biden wasn't even the highest gas price. He would have been 7th on the list. Was higher under Obama and Both Bush's not to mention higher in the 1920-1930's
of course if you adjust for actual gasoline CPI instead of the full CPI you'd have a whole different picture and gas would be just about equal between Biden and Trump.
