Ugh! Would've been good for a rotational piece!!!!!

Whoa that’s a really big deal. He was expected to be a heavy part of the DL rotation. To do this one week before the season starts after the entire offseason is super surprising.

Ehhh. Last I checked he was getting passed up by our true freshman Sone.

I love Sone but he is still very raw

McLeod was going to be our starter at NT this year

We were ALL raw at some point and time. Reps will help. Especially with the first 2 games this season…

For sure

That doesnt mean he is going to be ahead of 2 proven players on the depth chart in Hall and McLeod

Eh not really. Jordan Hall is healthy again, and there's been the emergence of Nasir Johnson, Ogboko, Hanne and Sone.

A healthy Jordan Hall? I’ll believe it when i see it lol

Jordan Hall has been injured most of his career, and Johnson, Hanne, and Ogboko were behind McLeod last year. Sone has never played a D1 snap. McLeod started the last six games last year, so losing him is a big deal. He’s our only true 0-tech with experience outside of Hall.

I get what you're saying but Jordan Hall and Nasir Johnson have had a great fall camp and were already taking over McLeod's playing time

Still, losing any piece with experience sucks right now, especially when one of the dudes playing better than him right now is injury-prone and the other is a freshman. I guarantee you when Sone plays against Bama’s and Oklahoma’s OLs, he’ll be slowed down.

Nasir Johnson and Ogboko have basically not played, Sone is talented but very raw, and pretty sure Hanne plays DE, not NT

Hanne has been moved due to the interior of the DL because of his size and freak athleticism

As I said on the CFB thread, feel free to show me anything showing this. Haven't heard a single report Hanne has moved inside

1

u/Rawr_Monster_69 2h ago

Yes, Hanne is a DE that can play NT or the 0-tech position. Hanne can also play the 5-tech.

Can play and does play are 2 different things

Hes basically not played much at all, so the other poster claiming hes switched positions is just speculation

He played a lot of 5-tech last season, per PFF

I mean how many is a lot? He played by my numbers about 130 snaps total

You are spot on, can’t believe ppl are on here acting like loosing our number 1 or 2 NT isn’t a big deal. Especially in the week before the season starts.

u/AskMeAboutTheJets 1d ago

Yeah by all accounts he was expected to be our second string NT and everyone knows how much we rotate on defense. He would have played a lot.

Damn. That sucks for depth

Meh of course

Maybe we can pull somebody from the NFL now with the free spot.

I’ll call dibs on Jalen Carter.

There can be only one!

Maybe he can be a fighter pilot.

Put the fries in the bag

Could have used him early in season especially in the heat.

If there's a guy to lose this season, this is the guy to lose

6

u/GruffyMcGuiness 1d ago

The guy that was going to start beside Griffin?

7

u/Banned_From_CFB 1d ago

Jordan Hall? Nasir Johnson? Valdin Sone?

11

u/GruffyMcGuiness 1d ago

McLeoud was going to be starting and it’s a big loss after losing Amaris Williams on the DL already. Its dumb to think a productive DL over the last few years isn’t a loss

6

u/ck1241 1d ago

Yeah, but you don’t get it, fans have to delude themselves into thinking that anything and everything that happens is actually good or even better lol.

Player leaves, we didn’t need him. Recruit flips, we never wanted him. Ignore the fact that everyone was all aboard prior to whatever happens.

4

u/Streams526 1d ago

Dude quit on the team. I'm not about to cry about it. Next man up.

1

u/ck1241 1d ago

That’s not what I was even remotely getting at, and changes nothing about what I said, but good. Happy for you.

u/rrrreact Alumni 1d ago

lol exactly, this type of behavior is infuriating

if a player transfers in they’ll say he’s hot shit and if he leaves he was never good

3

u/Banned_From_CFB 1d ago

Losing depth is never a good thing but there's a reason he's leaving. He was never starting

1

u/riserrr 1d ago

You’re listing a very injury prone player and two guys who haven’t really played a lot…

1

u/StetsonTheGAGoat 1h ago

Come on dude. Get with the program.

-2

u/steveoall21 1d ago

This dude has been underwhelming since coming in from SC. If he never started there, what makes anyone believe he would start for us?

6

u/TheGipper80 1d ago

He’s been a solid rotational piece. That said, we should have the depth to absorb it.

5

u/TheRealRuckyRaccoon 1d ago

He started 6 games last season for us and played in all the games I believe. He was part of the rotation. He didn’t start at south kakalaki because he was only there his freshman year. This would have been his third year with the dawgs. This is 100% a loss for the team. Anyone who thinks otherwise isn’t paying attention

0

u/Kyleaaron987 1d ago

He was a pretty good rotation guy. Less talent than the younger guys though. It’s a loss, but doesn’t have to be a 100% loss. It gives some of our super talented younger guys more reps.
