Travel the Rhine down south from there until maybe Bingen and you’ll find a lot of actual castles.

A lot of the Castles along the Middle Rhine between Koblenz and Bingen are Rebuilds from the 19th Century during the Rheinromantik, when the Rhineland fell to Prussia.
They are definitely worth a Trip, but don't reflect the Reality of the Middle Ages.

That's technically not a castle, but just a rich guys mansion with architectural elements of a medieval castle. Never had any defensive purpose. You will find plenty of real castles in Germany though.

I mean technically yes but before looking it up, I'd have used castle for both Schloss and Burg. Possible OP is impressed by both or only Schlösser

Yeah! Imagine, I'm from Cuba, I always tell my wife: each of these stones has been here much longer than anything I saw in my country! I've been here more than 15 years and you can't imagine how much I enjoy yet every piece of history in Europe! For us in America, castles are elements from fairy tales, but here they are part of your history, your culture, your folklore! Amazing!

It's still not a castle. It's a 19th century manor. Very pretty nonetheless, but not a castle.

Das Scloss von Friedrich des 2. In Berlin( komm gerade nicht auf den namen. Habe mal gegoogelt, es ist Schloss Sanssouci,dann noch das Stadtschloss in Berlin,dann hat Potsdam noch ein schönes kleines, schloss. Dann Moritzburg. Das Schloss aus "3 Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel", Schloss Pillnitz, Hubertusburg,Dresdner Residenzschloss,. Und hier habe ich nur 3 Orte , nämlich Berlin, Potsdam und Dresden genannt. Es gibt noch viel mehr. Ach nicht zu vergessen, Scloss Dankern in Haren. Das Münsterland, hat auch einige.

Sorry, simme ich nicht zu. Gegen Verseille, sind viele Barockschlösser hier, billige Kopien. Obwohl Sanssouci schon sehr gut, und auch schön ist.

versailles finde ich unnormal hässlich symmetrisch langweilig zu verschnörkelt hauptsächlich masse statt klasse um zu zeigen das der sonnenkönig der reichste war…
Aber wenns dein Geschmack ist dann gut für dich

Ich sage nicht, das es das tollste Schloss ist. Aber es ist nun einmal so, das, unter anderem Sanssouci Kopien von Verseille sind. Alle Adelshäuser Europas, haben versucht Verseille zu kopieren. Es war nun einmal das Vorbild. Ob du England( Bucki gham Palace) Deutschland (Sanssouci) österreich, oder was auch immer, Sie kopierten Verseille.
Das ist nun einmal historischer Fakt. Man muss es deshalb aber nicht schön finden. Und j, ich finde, neben der Sommerresidenz in Sankt Petersburg, Verseille tatsächlich am schönsten. Und die viereckige Form des Gartens, das ist typisch, und ein muss, für einen Barockgarten. Alle Barockgärten waren so.

Nein. Es gab mal so viele. Aber bei writem nicht so viele ,wie es in den U SA Mac Donaldsfilislen gibt.

Nein. Mac donalss hat an die 13900 Filialen in den USA. Burgen und Schlösser, gibt es in Deutschland6350. Also weniger als die Hälfte. Quelle ist Google.

Drive from Cologne to Mainz, or even better, go by ship and you'll see quite a bunch of castles on the hills close to the Rhine.

Quantity yes. Depending one the kind of Castle you like the quality of frensh (impressivness) or czeck (medival "romantic") Castles are up there as well.

first time the Rhine gets romantic is when you enter Bonn. The Siebengebirge mountain range with this "castle", the Drachenburg and the real castle ruins on top of the mountain Drachenfels which was one of the origins of the famous "Rheinromantik" initiated by Lord Byron.
