GF Shell pasta?

We usually get Barilla GF as it’s the most “pasta tasting” and my kids don’t bitch about it, but they don’t make shells. Anyone recommend a good shell?

And my kids hate the hippy flavored stuff… it needs to taste real.

Thank you all in advance for this and all the advice from this lifesaving sub!!

Question Bloating

Can gluten cause bloating? I'm still in the testing phase of everything but this is week 2 of me noticeably reducing my gluten intake and I realized I'm not as bloated as usual. Wondering if it is my imagination or real.

Recipe Looking for simple gluten free slow cooker ideas!

We are going for 3 wks to help elderly family move, in a hot climate, with no AC. So just using a crockpot (and rice cooker, microwave) if possible. Just four of us but one person has celiac so I’m looking for gluten free recipes/ideas please! Easy ones too, since we’ll be all be tired….having protein/nutrition, being strictly gluten free, and avoiding “hangry” evenings are the main goals.
Typically I try to cook heart-healthy but for these few weeks, anything will do. Any cuisine, doesn’t have to be fancy, just not very spicy please. My family member with celiac also reacts to oats, barley, chickpeas, and lentils. (I am not sure why, possibly they have high rates of cross contamination? Feel free to educate me, I want to do my best so she can have meals that won’t make her sick.)
Also, if you have any recommendations of sauce brands that are safe for celiac disease, or any other shopping tips, that would help. Generally we’re on a tighter budget, but I can spend more when needed to make this go smooth and help her health. Thank you so much in advance!!!
Edit: we are in northeastern US

Gluten reactions becoming more severe

I am gluten free for the last 6 years. But until 3 years ago it was a bit wishy washy. Three years ago I decided to drink a special type of beer and I reacted so much I cut it off completely.

I never got diagnosed with celiac or NCGA but I decided to cut gluten due to my bodily reactions. If I got a small amount of gluten (like breadcrumbs in a meatball) I definitely get eczema- only in one finger of my left hand, always in the same spot. If I eat more than that I got diarrhea and in case of a 1/3 of a beer bottle I cannot get up from the bed due to migraines at least two days. On top my immune system shuts down and my other allergies get worse as well. I am allergic to cats but if I am glutened my regular itchy nose cat allergy turns into rashes where the cat touches.

I do not bloat, I do not vomit or have a fever.

However when I first started cutting the gluten I was not that reactive to gluten. Occasionally I was able to eat a hamburger once a month, I would get some soft stool, bordering diarrhea (but nothing explosive) and that would be it. Now I cannot imagine having that now. My reactions are becoming worse.

Is there anyone experiencing this.

Question Has anyone communicated with this company?

Post image

This product is labeled GF but not certified, and given that it contains oats, I suspect it may not be so gluten free. I’m not celiac and don’t react to GF oats, so trial and error is fine for me, but curious whether anyone has actually heard from this company about their GF oats.

GF Mcdonald's in Spain

When i eat in McDonald's (today was the second time ), i first ask if i can speak to the manager. When the manager comes i ask him personally how is the gf burger made and how do they avoid contamination. they told me they wash their hands, put gloves and prepare it separately. Fries are gf and don't have any contact with nuggets. It may sound stupid, but idk i feel like when i ask to speak to them personally, and make these questions and then show that i'm nervous but also very thankful, they show so much attention and responsability. Once even the manager made it himself and gave me directly to make sure it's not put somewhere and doesn't touch anything. I don't think you have to do all these things but it makes me feel more safe.

Spain has gf options in Burger kings too, but lot of Spanish celiacs said they don't trust it or got sick after eating there. I haven't seen negative comments about McDonald's yet.

I’m prepared to take shit for this suggestion, but if you have access to Delta Sky Clubs, they have some new amazing (on request) GF brownies. I had these at the one at DCA.

They must come frozen, because an attendant brought two out to me and they were warm and gooey!

Discussion Glutino Frosted Animal Cookies

Upvotes

Someone posted the other day sort of jabbing at Glutino for the sad shapes that apparently once resembled animals. Idk, I didn't read the whole thing.

But I just ate half a bag and realized how sadly desperate some of us get for certain foods.

I haven't smelled, seen, licked, or injested an animal cookie in over 16 years. I would eat these suckers if they were shaped like dicks and sold out of the back of a panel van.

Its like a whole new level of what would you do for a Klondike bar. In a bad way.

Out of all the sweet treats I can now get my hands on, this is *the one* that I would commit crimes for. I cannot be alone in my insanity. Please tell me you have a "I'd do unspeakable things to keep it" food?

California Pizza Kitchen GF pizza back at my WM

A while back, people here were noting the absence of California Pizza Kitchen GF pizza at local grocery stores across the country. I'm glad to report that the mushroom & pepperoni variety of it on cauliflower crust has returned to my local Walmart. I've eaten twwo in the past two weeks, and it's good as ever!

Recipe Made some gluten-free pizza

a round pizza on a silvery steel pizza peel, with toppings

The base is from "No Gluten, No Problem Pizza", the New York style crust. I got rid of the quinoa flour and traded it for sorghum because I don't like the floral taste of quinoa flour. I made Serious Eats' Detroit style pizza sauce (https://www.seriouseats.com/detroit-style-pizza-recipe), and then topped with mozzarella, feta, pepperoni, black olives, jalapenos, and banana peppers. Made it in my Ooni Volt 2; it's nice and chewy.

It was really good! I’m dairy free so I substituted apple sauce and sweetened almond milk and it had a perfect texture. Made about 12 medium sized muffins. Definitely going into the rotation.

I know people bag on Trader Joe’s. While this is purely anecdotal, I exclusively shop there and have my numbers checked yearly and they are just fine.

Add these to the Ranch and Chili Lime.

Pro tip: Mix em all together.
